Audi Offering Carbon Clean

Audi Belfast have my car and are doing a carbon clean using the walnut. I have been sent a video of the before and after but waiting on some pics to be emailed to me.

From the video it looks a good job but obviously proof will be in the pudding when I get it back. I was quoted 3 hours labour and and ancillaries (gasket etc) I don't believe its as comprehensive as an MRC clean.

Car was cleaned in 2015 before my ownership and the build between then and now had been quite excessive. Whilst the head was off they replaced an air intake valve that sits in the middle of the V as it was cracked. Hopefully this will be covered under the warranty :)

Not sure if this has been mentioned before so apologies if already covered. I had asked them back in March when I was getting it serviced about a carbon clean but they informed me that I would need to take it to an independent garage which for me in NI is a pain.

I think its only about time that Audi finally accept that the build up is an issue.

Very interesting, it'll be good to see what sort of job they do.

I was initially quoted 6 hours then told 3 (I will confirm when I get the bill). I don't believe this will be a comprehensive clean similar to one MRC does but until I speak with the technician at Audi I won't be able to confirm this.

I hope to get a pic of the machine used.

I would post the before and after videos but the clips show my plate and also names are mentioned so will wait for the pics rather than start editing clips.

I will keep this thread updated.

I'll be watching this one to see the outcome.

Although even 3hrs at Belfast Audi prices is probably £360 !!! I have read that A.I. Autosport in Carrickfergus can do carbon cleaning properly, not sure on pricing though.

I didn't know about them. I have a receipt from 2015 from an indie in Gilford NI who did the carbon clean. Until yesterday wasn't sure what method was used but Audi showed me in the video walnut filings that hadn't been cleaned out.

Yep £100 + VAT per hour - I could cry lol

A screen grab of before and after from the videos sent to me. Resolution is rubbish but I think the idea will be there.

Looks a good job.

I am heading for a rolling road soon, then McAvoy motors in Carryduff who got a new walnut carbon cleaner. My mate Andy does the cleans there and has shown me pics of other RS and S cars done in the past month. Does look a good job.

Will then be taking it back for a rolling road and custom map at Autotune.

Review to follow soon.

Thats good to know. I was there in May having the clutch return pipe done and I asked about the CC and Terry said he was thinking about it. Do you know how much he is charging?

Just got some pics sent across from Audi. Great job done with clean as some of the ports were well coked up!

Won't get the car back until Monday so no idea what this will cost until I get the invoice, but the warranty company have covered the defective air intake valve so the removal of the manifold and gaskets will be free :biggrin3:

Didn't look that bad before, tbh. I don't think i'd have bothered having it done at that stage.....
