Is the RS4 B7 old hat

Post by Regy53 » Thu May 25, 2017 10:02 pm

Howdy all

I have owned two B7's before once in 2014 and once in 2015, the first with a milltek and second with a JCW weldfab, both cars had stage 2 by MRC

I have also since owned a RS6 C6, Audi A7 bi turbo black edition, A S8, and more recently a BMW m5 F10 twin turbo 4.4 v8

Its worth noting i do sell my cars often if i find a reason too, i started a business in 2014 and have justified all the sales for this reason, usually a summer purchase with a end of summer sale at not much cost but tops business account back up to levels needed

The problem is i find the f10 lacking, its a lovely car, drives so nice is insainly fast with the DMS remap i have done (720 bhp) it puts you on the edge of your seat when pushing but i just find the rest of the time it lacks, well anything.

no noise
no special looks
a lovely auto box but its all to easy
a bit bland all around

I find myself looking again at Audi RS4's this time a supercharged car. I have seen it this week and do not feel it has aged any, its not like other 2006 cars where the panels look like bricks, its still a lovely looking car as standard.

I remissness to the times i owned a RS4, if your driving fast or slow it has a presence about it, a noise that cannot be matched by any modern turbo cars, wide arches, bucket seats, a kind of retro feel without going back to the 80's etc etc.

My f10 is worth 30 odd K, a supercharged Rs4 7 years older is 25 odd k, am i mad? is it truly that wonderful drivers car that i remember. I can get out my m5 at a carpark and walk away, with my old RS4's you couldn't help but look back a few times?

how have you guys found the RS4 when comparing to more modern cars? has anybody had the same as me?

:bigblink: Do it

I just took mine back to MRC and got them to go over it, supercharger service re-map etc health check, ended up with a bill for a few £K's but now I'm back tip top again. All of the bits were minor but as with these things more that I'd thought i would be spending, but after all they are older cars so do consider this when you do a deal with FSperformace

The only bit of the B7 that felt really dated was the head unit.

So I changed it.

Regy, totally agree mate. I've had two as well and can't help but want another. I've moved to more modern stuff and find it a bit soulless really. Don't get me wrong, the replacement is possibly quicker, practical, warrantied, easy to live with and frugal by comparison. However, I'm left wanting more...

I've had two, there's a reason so many previous owners come back to the B7.

I've had two as well, with a C63 (520HP) in between. I recently tried an F80 M3 for the day and did not like it so bought an E36 M3 and I am restoring it. I drove the M3 during the winter and stored my RS4. When I got back into my RS4 it was like driving the Star Ship Enterprise, man you forget how special these cars are.
