B7 Rs4 Throttle reset?

Hi,

Had heard and read about a throttle reset but all posts seem to be for older models and none definitivley for the B7 RS4.

Having just purchased the vehicle I thought I could benefit from this.

Is it able to be done and how?

Thanks in advance!

I just done the following and wow! Totally changed the power delivery through the entire power range in my case.

The Throttle must have learned bad habbits from prior owners.

Heres a detailed guide of how to reset the electronic throttle:

1) key in ignition and turn to "on".
2) dont start engine but press the throttle fully down for at
Least 5 seconds (will hear the throtttle unit cycling).
3) while still holding throttle down turn key back to off position and remove the key and release throttle.
4) wait 2 minutes and proceed to start the vehicle
5) turn off ESP ( I did this from reading posts regarding power delivery of the Traction controll system) press and hold for 5 seconds, ESP light will be on.
5) the first drive may be very jerky on partial to medium throttle initially as tge throttle learns the positioning again.
6) After 2 minitues of light driving move onto the following steps for the throttle to learn a good linear range.

What I did:
1)Thrash the car as hard as i could for 15 minutes straight using personal driving characteristics (blip throttle down shifts etc) and using the ENTIRE rpm range (i.e 8000RPM)

2) Then drive the car casually for 15 mins at a medium pace. Try to use your own typical driving techniques once again as much as you can.

Repeat 1) and 2) several times.

Now the throttle has been reset and has learned how you generally drive.

For me...this totally changed how my car performs everywhere theough the RPM range and even got rid f a flat spot in the power delivery and some jumpyness at lower rpms when applying throttle quickly in different situations.

I am in no way an expert however if you have an RS4 and have had any concerns about the lineararity of the power delivery give this a try in the order I mention and see what you think.

Good luck!

No it's just a throttle body reset.

Worthwhile doing every service. Gives it that extra zing.

Is this worth doing?
I just did a fault code scan and my throttle on live data only goes from 12 - 85.5%...

If you have VCDS, you can also reset the learned fuel trim values - viewtopic.php?f=39&t=105951

The ECU will reduce fuel to keep the best stoichiometric value. If you've changed plugs, filters, oil, or made any tuning changes then always worth reseting these values so that it can re-adapt.

'stoichiometric' now that takes me back, might need to dig out my Rayner Joel ;-)

Sounds mint. Will give this a hoon today. Funny how some super useful stuff like this is just buried amongst a shitload of opinions about <beep>-all.

Just want to say that this absolutely fixed the kangaroo-ing/jerkiness that would happen at low throttle opening, low load driving. It was as if I had never driven a manual transmission before. The PO replaced the throttle body not too long ago. Not sure if that was when the problem started but doing the throttle reset sure fixed it. Thank you to the OP for sharing.
