Rev limiter

Just been out to the Shop and when having a blast home my rev limiter kicked in at 6500 rpm. Oil was all up to temp and "limited revs to 7000" had gone off the screen.

The only reason I could see was I am low on fuel but would that cause the limiter to kick in early?

Just filled up at Shell, and all back to normal 8k limit. looks like the engine limits the revs once the fuel light come on. :beerchug:

errr no it doesn't.
if the revs were limited to 6500 it was doing it for a reason, get it scanned with VCDS it will have logged the issue.

I went for a drive before filling up and had the same symptoms as yesterday, then filled up and all ok. So suggests it was something to do with the low fuel. If there was another error on the car would I of had a warning message on the dash?

There is definitely no connection with the fuel light being on and the revs being limited, there must be another factor at play

Mmmm. Yea odd one. I'm not sure weather to be concerned or not as not lights came on the dash and it's driving fine now.

For me, early warning signs that something might not be running correctly is exactly the right time to try and resolve. Ignore it and the end result could be worse.

Warning lights on the dash are pretty basic. You either need the VCDS software to read the ECU or take it to a VAG specialist garage that has it so they can read the fault codes and give you a print out. Alternatively if you post up that you need a fault code scan and your aproximate location, a forum memember might be able to do it for you.
