Anyone here fitted an after market head unit?
Will a 8" fit or 7"?
Have used an Alpine INE w925r before and did not like it was thinking of the INE w977bt however thinking about Pioneer or Kenwood..
Anyone know in the same range what the pioneer equivemt is and how it compares to the Alpine?
I have a samsung s6..i think the alpine ine 977 supports samsung mirrioring?
Thanks
Sam

I don't think a 8" is going to fit. I recently purchased a new head unit and after speaking to a few shops I ended up buying the Kenwood DNX8160DABS. I was sold on the audio processing capabilities but it also offers full apple car play, navigation etc etc. It also has the Android interface so it will play nice with your Samsung.
I did look at the pioneer in the same range but I was told to go with Kenwood... So I did.

I had the 8" alpine INE-928R in mine. Great fit. See my stereo build thread.

You sure that's an 8" Mike? I'm sure I was told the 7" is the biggest that would fit hence the reason I went with it.

Defo an 8", with room to spare. 7" looks lost in the space left by the RNSE. I waited ages for them to bring out a fitting kit for the B7.

Yeah it will. It's a big space to fill. I did have a look at the installation kit and the bezel looks like a very similar size to the one in your photo...

Try out the touch screens first. Some are capacitive and some are resistive, the resistive screens are obviously not as good with touch and need a heavy press, capacitive are much better and what you have on a modern mobile phone / tablet and have the ability for multi touch gestures.

Sure will and then some, you can run toque app, Waze, and anything a phone can do with the options to add a data dongle or use your phone has a WiFi hit spot.

There was a piece of paper in the box that mentioned screen mirroring, but I had a quick look at the time and either my phone wasn't compatible or the firmware on the unit needed updating (can't remember exact reason). But this was ages ago now. I don't have the unit anymore. Alex from Aus has is it now but I haven't seen him on here for a while.

Just had a chat with Alpine.
I already have the INE925 in my 911 and dont like it..928 was told is the same as 925.
the one with the newest screen Capacitive Touch Screen is this one:
https://www.alpine.co.uk/p/Products/SingleView/X801D-U
They also said samsung has blocked the process of being able to screen mirror - however they said i can attached some device like the chrome cast connect my phone via wireless and the mirror - unsure how good this will be..
Still at £1k + other bits requires some heavy thinking!
