Just a quick Hello / Update thread
Hi. New to the forum after browsing for some time and gaining much needed buying knowledge. After several years lusting i have finally taken the plunge and got myself a 2006 RS4 . Over the moon with the car and finding every excuse to get out for a drive. Certainly a jump up form my VW caddy which i have been rattling round in for the last 4 years!
Just thought id introduce myself and say thanks for all the knowledge and tips i have picked up which has helped me to find, what i hope is a great example. Excuse the poor pic but its the first i took after getting back from picking it up, will post some more when i have cleaned it etc.
A little about the car:
It has 76K on the clock
Full Service history, mix of Audi/specialist
Full Milltek
Carbon Clean and remap by AMD @65k
New allround Discs/pads, clutch & flywheel, Front and Rear Shock Absorbers and hydraulic lines and osf radiator in march 2016
4 nearly new P Zeros
Watend to start my ownership off on the right foot so its booked in at MRC for a service/health check.
Just one niggle on the car, the adaptive light malfunction light came on on they way home
I have got the fault codes up at a mates garage and attached a pic below. Anyone else had similar issues? i have a 12 month warranty on the car so hoping that will cover any faulty parts if there are any.
Look forward to reading the forum and hopefully gaining more knowledge on these awesome cars.
Tom

Thanks guys. I was originally after a black one but fell in love with the grey when I saw it in the flesh.

Welcome to the forum, lovely looking example. Good move getting MRC to give it the once over. Get some Michelin Supersports on it too when you need to replace the current tyres - you won't regret it

Re: Just a quick Hello
Just thought id update with a few pics now its had a good wash. Really enjoying the car, it has a couple of niggles but im sure MRC will be able to sort these. The only thing bugging me is the front bumper colour missmatch. I didnt spot it the two times i went to view the car
I know you can never acheive a perfect match but does anybody with any experience know wether a decent body shop could respray the bumper and acheieve a better macth? If so are there any recommendations in the west mids/ Shropshire area?
Not on the top of my list as i soon forget about it when i get past 5500rpm

Re: Just a quick Hello
Unless it's definitely had as respray I'd say it's pretty common on daytona coloured cars to have a difference between the plastics and the metals.
Looking good though.

Thanks. And yeah, since I've noticed mine I have been scouring the web at pics and a lot of the Daytona rs4's seem to suffer from it to some degree.daytonamart wrote:Unless it's definitely had as respray I'd say it's pretty common on daytona coloured cars to have a difference between the plastics and the metals.

Guess I'll just learn to forget about it. Just annoyed me that the 'know it all' at work spotted it for me!
Re: Just a quick Hello
Just an update for anyone who's interested/ potential rs4 owners.
Took the car down to MRC today for a service and health chech. Glad I did. Health check reveald the map by AMD, done for the previous owner, was no good at all. It was throwing up and masking a number of errors and generally just a bag of it was making 380 with average carbon build up, and in dougs words 'not a safe map'
Doug kindly did a stage 2 map there and then taking the car up to 410 and boy what a difference on the drive home. Super smooth and effortless to drive and I've read numerous posts on the effects on the sport button with the MRC maps, but I was not expecting such a noticeable difference. Left me giggling like a child all the way home. Going to take it back soon for a carbon clean and manifold work to get it back up to where it should be.
Thankfully the rest of the car was spot on and they said it had been very well maintained. This was a relief as I had started to worry I'd bought a lemon.
Doug coded out the adaptive light malfunction which was throwing up the warning on the dash.
So for any potential rs4 buyers, look for a car that has been maintained by MRC, or if possible, make it your first stop after picking one up.

Re: Just a quick Hello / Update thread
Just thought id keep this going as an update thread and may be useful to some others who are considering doing the same.
As previously metnioned i was not happy with the colour missmatch on the car so after abit of research and quote gathering, i booked the car in for a front end respray at KDS in Gillingham. Bit of a trek form Shrosphire, but a good excuse to let the car stretch its legs abit.
They had it for 2 weeks in which time they repaired a small dent in the front wing (user error ) and sprayed the bumper, bonnet, wings and two new door trims which had started to go rotton. I also had them carry out their bronze correction deatil to the rest of the car. I was blown away with thier workmanship and attention to detail. To be honest i had high expectaions after seeing their work and hearing the reviews but i have to say they exceeded them. I was pretty speechless when i went down to pick the car up.
