Sport button question
Sport button question
Is there a way that you can just select the sport button to only operate the exhaust valves and not the increased throttle sensitivity. I find it way too sensitive in traffic and when pulling away. Its fine when your on the move and giving it some stick.....
Re: Sport button question
The answer for you is the other way round; control the valves independantly of the the sport button. You can do this by fitting a switch to control the vavles so they are always open, always closed or behave as normal. Or just disconnect the vavles altogether and leave them open but I'm guessing you still have a Milltek and this would be too loud?
Re: Sport button question
Yeah mike, i have the non res valved milly with gutted pre cats. Its a little loud to have open all the time, as soon as I'm on the move and out of my cup-de-sac its fine but i need the valved option.

Check this:

Also, a french team called PSE Bypass does these but with a wireless control that you can have in your car, that opens and closes the flaps.
Here is an email from them:

However, i never ended up ordering it because i got used to having the flaps permanently open.

Re: Sport button question
I was in contact with that company before but it didn't quite work how I wanted it to so didn't go through with it. I can't remember the exact issue but it was to do with the available modes i.e. not permanently open or always started in closed mode or something like that.
Re: Sport button question
Thanks Mike for looking that up, I've seen something similar before but i was hoping it was going to be a simple unplug or a bit of coding.
If only it was that simple.....

Re: Sport button question
To make it more of an unplug solution you would need to interupt the wiring at the vacuum solenoid end rather than under the ECU.
The vacuum solenoid is in the boot in the well behind rear wheel arch (passenger side). The 2 control wires referenced in aussiedan's article (grey/black and yellow/green) are on the connector to the solenoid. Unplugging this connector will remove control of the valves making them always open - but this isnt the functionality you want and will also throw a fault as ECU detects the vac solenoid as open circuit. If you can get hold of the connectors you could make up a loom to fit between the plug and the solenoid to add the switch and resistor per aussiedan. But it is then a long way to run wires to dash for an on dash switch.
On mine i spliced into the grey/black wire in the boot and fitted the overide switch above rear wheel inside the small luggage compartment (avant). I only cut into one wire (grey/black) as i fitted the 1k resistor across the new switch instead of across both control wires - this has the advantage that the ECU circuit checking current flows through the resistor and the solenoid and so will still flag a fault if solenoid fails open circuit.
