Tyre wear

Post by Starry » Fri Dec 02, 2016 8:53 am

Do the front or rear tyres wear quicker on 4wd. Reason being is that I've just bought some 20's with used tyres and 2 are lower than the other 2 so I'd like to get them to wear out around the same time.
Thanks

Slightly in most cases, depends on the car and how you drive it.

Front. :bash: Unless you have one of the systems that has a heavy bias to the rear.

My fronts seem to have worn quite a bit quicker than the rears, probably due to engine weight and possibly a bit more scrubbing through the corners if pushing on. Just ordered a new pair of Michelin PSS's for the front, but the rears have plenty left on them, and they were all fitted at the same time

Rears wear quicker on a B7. Makes sense really seem as 60% of the power is sent there.
