water temp sensor location?

Post by Starry » Wed Nov 30, 2016 7:54 pm

Just thought id rule out the simple cheap options as to why my car is having cold idle issues. Starting with the temp sensor, anyone know the location of it? I've not looked yet so it may be obvious but thought id ask ready for tomorrow. Hopefully I've not got to remove a million things 1st... :audibash:

I would start with cleaning your throttle body, then recalibrate it. If problem persists, check you antifreeze mixture.

What bearing would the antifreeze mix have? It should be ok as it had a full carbon clean a few months ago so would of been replaced then I'd assume. TB clean you say. You mean with a squirt of cleaner? Who do you re calibrate them?
Thanks....

I had a starting issue when cold in my old merc and it turned out to be a weak mixture. Had issues in colder weather.

You could clean the TB with a rag and a bit of carbon cleaner. Resetting is simple.

1. Turn ignition to on, but don't start the car, and press the accelerator fully down for 3 seconds.(you will hear a whirling sound)

2. Then turn the key to the off position. Let go of the accelerator. Wait now for two minutes and then remove the key.

This should reset the TB. You should get a better idle now.
