Audi price match servicing costs anyway, just as long as the independent uses genuine parts and is within a 15 mile radius. So no need to forgo a Full Audi History.

I've just had an oil and filter done at MRC and I'm pretty sure it was £219, unless your adding 4 hours of fuel?
No they said a 10k service is that much mate, 20k service is double

My dealer was a bit awkward on the distance, as they mapped it by roads rather than radius - T&C's say roads. In the end they gave ground though as another dealership, who was more local to the specialist was happy to match the price. If you friend is VAT registered, using genuine parts and the rates are not silly mates rates, then I see no reason why not if he puts the quote into an email. I was just showing the Specialists pricing, as quoted on their website.

How many independent garages will supply written quotes though? And keep sending you one every year when you never use their services?

This was my problem when I asked about price match, they wanted a full written quote and were very strict on the radius from the dealership. My Specialist only gave me a brief e-mail with a single price which they wouldn't accept.

To be fair, in the end they gave me 15% discount on their labour rate (the Audi Dealer that is).

If they're that complacent about not quoting for business, then I'd question about really wanting to use them? What else would they not bother with - appropriate insurance cover, genuine parts, correct oils, nuts and bolts left off because they don't know where they go?

Generally I’ve found that by providing my own oil and asking for the Main Dealer to be competitive to other Dealers and local Specialists, has served me well enough in the past.

But I'm not suggesting I use the independent garage, just was a written quote from them to use for Audi price match. I imagine if the garage does supply me a written quote but I don't use their services then after a couple of times of doing this they will soon get fed up and stop quoting. And I have 3 cars that need servicing every year. My point being that the audi price match is a great idea and service to offer but not very easy to actually use regularly unless you have a mate that own a garage close by.

If the price match saves you enough, you could always reward the independent for taking the time to quote. It's all hypothetical anyway, as there's been plenty of advice on ways to save over the first Dealership quote for service work.

My local garage has done a quote using oem bits, including cabin/air filter that audi do not include, came out at £220 , quote sent and await the outcome, this is what he would charge and no mates rates here, time to test there price promise

Cardiff audi wont price match an rs apparently, absolute joke of a dealership, spoke to 2 others and they said they are supposed to, there is no stipulation on models being exempt, even if the others cant match (distance is further than t&cs) then i will take my business there instead, another dealership said they can do some goodwill as the car has been serviced there twice before .so urge anyone to avoid these muppets :audibash:

That is an absolute joke, any excuse to fob you off so they can get out of it. Have you tried raising a formal complaint with Audi Customer services? I'd suggest giving them a call in the morning to get on the case if you haven't.

Hi sam, no i havent bothered raising a complaint, another dealership who are owned by sinclair (as cardiff are monmotors) , have said theyd give goodwill, £300 so £45 off, cant argue with that really as i feel thats not bad, so hats off to swansea audi, and if anyone has the pleasure of using them speak to hayley from the service dept, very helpful and great service, as for cardiff they couldnt even be bothered to ring me i had to chase them, re rang them and theyd offer no goodwill at all, i said id take car to sinclair and they werent bothered, appalling service from cardiff. 45 min journey but im not bothered, i remember years ago dealing with there vw branch and were so much more helpful than cardiff as well. Big city, big ego...AVOID
