Broken rear springs

Post by irishmike » Thu Oct 20, 2016 9:48 pm

So I had my NCT tonight (Irish MOT) and got a report that both rear springs are broken near the bottom :(

Didn't notice anything different when driving the car and it got a health check by Audi a few weeks ago and all was fine. :audibash:

Anyone else ever have this happen and are they expensive?

I had an inspection today and one of my rear springs is broken. In my opinion doesn't drive any different.

I did notice it sliding a bit under fast cornering/roundabouts, but I put that down to the Verd's I have on, usually had Michelin...

The tester said drive it on, but I'm not sure how safe/unsafe it is and how long it's been broken...

I;ll be having serious words with Audi if they missed it in their checks.

This is a common problem on the B7.

Audi came back to me.
540 Euro to replace both rear springs.
Looks like 2.5 hours labour.

Sound right?
