Racing Brake pads

Post by pule333 » Tue Oct 18, 2016 10:33 pm

Hi lads.
Was swapping my wheels again after Bedford autodrome yesterday (by the way, what a track! Absolutely loved it! My new fav track!)
And noticed my Ferodo DS2500 are already half way gone after fitting them last month:) well granted I had 3 track days in 30 days but wasn't expecting to be looking at new pads quite so soon lol. So the question is, what are other options? Been considering DS3000 but they say not suitable for road use. Wonder why.
Not interested in EBC. Did look at pagid RS4-2 (blue) and tarox strada. Or shall I just stick with ds2500? I am 100% happy with their performance but maybe there is something better all rounder? They have to work a little bit for daily use tho. I mean I don't mind heating them up a bit on my daily commute ;) but unfortunately not looking for full racing pads.

Not even a consideration. Way too much dough for what it is.

Id stick with the DS2500, use the brakes less :bigblink: . I finished my front and rear pads off at Bedford autodrome , not a bad track but became a bit boring with it being flat . Handy have the shell garage just up the road to ,I used 3 tanks :drink:

Hello Ilya
If you're happy with the DS2500's stopping capability then I'd stick with them, I use them too and very happy with their all round performance, especially in the wet. All pads will wear on heavy track use. Having been to the Team Schirmer garage by the Nürburgring the pads on his BMW ring cars are much thicker than normal road pads. Obviously a specialist racing pads.
Good to meet you at the AUDI international.

I've been very surprised how well my Carbotech XP10 pads work on the road considering they are very much a track pad. I did wear quite a bit off them on the Ring as well this year but I've always been hard on the brakes.

With Cup tires on I was braking every bit as late as the GT3 RS-es which I assume were being kinder to their brakes than I was.
B7 RS4 saloon Misano red, comfy seats, JHM tune & JHM full exhaust with cats and resonators - gone.
C5 RS6 Avant Daytona/Cognac - gone.
981 Cayman GTS Gray/Orange.

I had bought mine in Sweden actually - my sister lives there so it was easy. They were available in the UK back then but at outrageous prices...made more sense to do Sweden or the US where they are easy to get.

Do you know if they sell it as a box of 4 or as a kit of 8? Price is 3600 Kr

If you get the correct pads for the RS then it will be 8 pads in 1 box to serve the front axle :)

Price sounds about right, a bit higher than what I paid nearly a year ago but the Swedish kroner is very low right now so it makes sense.

Those are the ones!

I've only managed to pick up a few simple things in Russian so far, but google translate has come in handy when ordering car toys the other half shouldn't know about lol
