So who has had any experience with Lamine-X headlight film? I know it has been mentioned here and it's been posted about it causing cracks etc.I am looking at both tail light and head light. The film looks great but wanted to get some feedback before ordering.

I have it on my headlights but I have it on top of paint protection film so no direct contact with the lens. This was because of any issues or concerns, it was purely that I already had ppf on my headlights and didn't want to remove it in case I didn't like it. It's not ideal as I can see slight lines in my beams. As lamin-x is also a self healing ppf and that it looks good I should have removed my original ppf first.
If you asked earlier you could have taken a good look at mine on Saturday or did you already take a look?

I also bought the precut film for the rears but I forgot they don't have avants in the US and bought the saloon ones by mistake.

I did take a quick look at yours on Saturday Mike. I think it looks great but did notice what looked like small bubbles underneath the film, this may be due to the fact you have it layered on another film. It really is a cheap and effective mod, looks mean with black on black on black.

I'm definitely heading down the gangster look path now.

I had it on my old B5 and loved the look and required heating to get a good fit and bubble free finish with so cheap washing liquid to help with the fitting.

Does the lamine-x go on wet?

Also what % are yours Mike?

Normally use a hairdryer or heat gun.

Yes, spray the headlight with a bit of water / washing up liquid and a little on the back of the wrap to help slide into place. My problem was that I was trying to lay it onto another wrap so wasn't as smooth as it should be.

I think they only do 2 tints ie not coloured tints. Mine is the lighter tint and my headlights were already lighted tinted from factory.

And does it reduce the output from your headlights?

Would anyone else be interested in placing an order to help reduce shipping costs? It's around $50US for shipping.

Yes, it's a tint so there must be a level of reduction in light levels. However, my LED headlights are very bright so not noticeable to me.

As an alternative to buying the pre cut stuff from the US, I was ralking to my ppf guy about buying the normal square / rectangular sheets from the UK and using his ppf cutter to cut out the shapes as he would with his normal ppf. If you have a local ppf guy it's worth talking to him about this.
