I'm going to have the Thinkware F770 installed tomorrow, just want to make sure I do not drain the battery too much.

Thanks !

I could be wrong, but i think you will find that the dashcam set up is normally better hard-wired to the ACC or switched power supply, and the camera itself will automatically start recording as per its own set schedule while powered up.

If you were planning to have it continuously recording even when the car is parked up, then you may face battery drain issues if left for an extended period.
It will be low current draw, but its still not the best setup.

This is how I've wired our family cars. Hard wired into the fuse box so they come on with the ignition. I just bought some spare cigarette lighter sockets, positive into the fuse box, negative earthed on the chassis. You need to pick a circuit that only goes live with the ignition - I think I did our Audis off the rear wiper fuse. Hide the cigarette lighter socket behind the dash, plug the dashcam into that

Mine is set at 11.8V or 12hours for Parking mode.
Using Mio MiVue 658 dash cam with wired smartbox power supply.
Never have problems with discharging the battery

Thanks guys.

The Thinkware F770 has internal shutoff so I don't need to put a powerbox. I asked a few times and the Shop insisted there's no need to install a backup battery so I just set the lowest voltage to 12.3V. It seems to start at 12V with no trouble but I'll play is a bit safer.
