Hi all,
It's time to replace the car's battery and I want to change to the AGM type.
Just wondering if anyone is using that and if you need to
VCDS re-code the car to learn the new battery ? What brand and model would you recommend ?

No issue with changing battery.
I have a Banner AGM one because when I changed it I still had my big car stereo in and the Banner batteries are very good for this type of thing.

Cool ! Are you using the AGM 605 01 ? do you know what is the size the battery compartment can fit ?
I'm thinking of the Varta AGM, but it looks to be rather big and at 29kg it's not light:

Comparing to the non-AGM one that I am using:

The site suggested for a lower capacity and cold cracking amp...I wonder if that is sufficient to start ?

I think the B7 uses the 020 size. Can't remember the dimensions though.

You'll have to recode the remote central locking and one touch windows, that's about it and are easily done.
The size is 020, Bosch specs below
Amp Hours (Ah): 110AhCold Cracking Amp (CCA): 920CCALength: 393mmWidth: 175mmHeight: 190mm
One thing is the cranking amps, I wouldn't go lower. I had an issue with a battery that was just below full capacity and had issues starting. I needed to turn off auto lights and anything else to get it started.

Thanks. Is it ok if the Amp Hours is a bit less ? From what is available here in Hong Kong, the AMGs available are either 105 or 95 Ah. Otherwise I have to go back to the traditional ones for 110Ah.
