Spark plugs

Post by Frostie » Sun Sep 18, 2016 10:24 am

So, i have gone to change my spark plugs this morning, and the ones i have taken out are ngk with 3 electrodes... the new ones i have from TPS which were listed for my car, are ngk with one electrode... which is correct ? My car is a 2007.

Regards,
Chris

The single is correct, triple is not OEM.

Are the single electrode ngk plugs the better ones to get?

Fitted these single electrode plugs today, along with new coil packs and a new low fuel pressure sensor. Drives really well and ticks over a bit nicer too.

Fresh set of plugs is always nice, I'd always prefer to change them every 25-30k.

Personally I wouldn't get the multiple ones as I feel they shroud the spark more, but their service life is supposed to be longer.

I fitted mine without taking note of the plug part number... all i know is that they were the ones listed for my car on the system at TPS, and the plugs had a single electrode.

The audi part number is listed in the B7 sticky about part numbers.
This lists the Audi number only and not the NGK part number.
But if you do a search for spark plug in the B7 forum there are a couple of threads where there were links to a cheap place on eBay that will get you the right plugs and at a good price. I can't open eBay links on work PC though so I can't tell you what the part number is.

Thanks for that Mike, i've done all the searching and i'm confident i've got the correct part number now.

It's like anything else, the more you look into something the more you get confused , thanks again :beerchug:

Just to add fuel to the fire. NGK plugs had been superceeded by Bosch versions when I last purchased a set through the dealership.

Weird
My MY2007 US manual list it in the tech specs at the back
