exhaust flaps with remap

I thought the flaps only opened in 1st, 2nd and 3rd when the revs go above 4k, but having a play today it sounds like they're open with the sport button on below 4k in 3rd and possibly 2nd as well.
Is this due to the stage 2 map?

Yeah they open on tickover with the sport button on but once the revs raise above 1k they close again until 4k i think

I dont think that is the case with mine... It is totally noticeable across the whole rev range with the sport button activated.

this is where i was getting my info.. in the FAQ part..
When do the flaps open?
The flaps are linked to the "sport" button either mounted on the steering wheel (flat bottom wheel) or on the dash (multi-function wheel).
When sport mode is "off" the flaps always remain closed for making for quiet engine running. As sport mode resets to off on every ignition start the exhaust flaps default position is closed.
With the sport mode engaged the flaps will open in the following circumstances:
- when the engine speed is below 1k rpm (essentially at idle)
- when in neutral or gears 1, 2 and 3 *and* engine speed above 4k rpm
- when in gears 4, 5 and 6
At all other times the exhaust flaps will be closed regardless of the sport mode selected.

Um... I'm still pretty sure mine are open continuously in sport mode... Unless a re-map affects things...

It can do (which I only discovered recently)
So the OEM setup is as per the FAQs, but I was speaking to Ben at MRC and they can change the flap operation. From our brief discussion, they can change the rev threshold, make the valves open all the time, or closed all the time.

That must be what they've done, I think they run as oem in 1st and I'm not sure about 2nd but fully open in 3rd at all revs.

I've not had mine connected since before it went to MRC so wouldn't have noticed, but behaved as stated in the sticky when my car was standard.

I've noticed the exhaust flaps on my Avant are always open.
So perhaps it's had a remap or flap mod.
Think I'll get it checked out.

Most likely they are disconnected or seized.

Ah ok, cheers Mike.
Is that something Audi would pick up on in a health check do you know?

Unlikely, or they would have tried to sell you a brand new exhaust for silly money.
Easy enough to check, get on the floor underneath the car at the back and look for a rubber hose connected to each valve just behind the oval tailpipe bit.

JuSt put you head under the rear bumper and look at the pipe going to the flaps and if it's disconnected and plugged then it's modded if not as Mike said it's probably seized.
