engine cooling

I was Just looking at my engine bay and wondered why there is a rubber seal running the full width of the bulk head just behind the engine. Looks like when the bonnet comes down it makes a seal. Surely this would trap heat in the bay, if this was removed then the air flow coming though the front would escape faster without the seal.
Just a thought.

Theres plenty of airflow through that engine bay, the air drawing past the undertray will ventilate quite perfectly.
The rubber seal is there for a reason... otherwise the people who designed the car would have chucked it in the bin themselves in 2006.

Audi spent a fair few quid designing this car so I guess its there for a reason.

They should have spent more time on the engine and suspension instead of the bonnet seals
