what does the vacuum system operate?

Post by Starry » Sat Aug 27, 2016 8:12 am

As the title says really, is the vacuum used to control anything other than the manifold flaps, airbox flap and exhaust flaps?
I know people say if your down on power then check the vac system, but with the inlet manifold flap delete and with the exhaust flaps modded to stay open, are we putting all loss of power down to just the air box flap. If this is the case then anyone running a CAI and a valveless exhaust with a de flapped intake manifold would not even need a vacuum system.

I recall someone talking about removing it but I think there was something to do with the brakes too. May have been Rick. I'm pretty sure the self study guide shows the whole vacuum system though.

It does and you've already posted a link to it, in one of the other threads he started.

Have you read it yet Starry?

I read it again this morning, it seems to go all over the place, my question was more to do with how power is lost through a vac leak, and does it all come down to those 3 sets of flaps?

Vacuum also controls the SAI, through a solenoid located under your manifold. Now that you have deleted your pre-cats you don't need your SAI.
Daytona Grey, Bilstein Coilovers, Pre-cat delete, Centre resonator delete, IM flaps/vains delete, Interior/Exterior LED kit, CAI, Black Optics.
