18" wheels for track days

Post by pule333 » Tue Jul 26, 2016 2:48 pm

Hi Lads. My mate is trying to persuade me to go 18" as in his opinion it will be better on the track. I kinda agree with him that on the track it might be better but I am not planing to swap them before the track and rather keep on all the time. So what are people thoughts on going 1 size smaller? Has anyone done it?

Hey Ilya, have a look at this:

Personally, I don't think I'd like to run 18's all the time...just look too small in my opinion. Might make sense for track only though

That was Sonny's car, it was epic on track but he also stripped the interior and had trick TPMS installed, amoung other choice mods. There are other photos on here of the car with it lowered perfectly. Ain't nothing wrong with the look of 18s on the B7, better ride and turn-in too. Plus you get to run triple eights in a readily available size.
No matter where you go, there you are.

Well the big question is can I fit 255 tyres on a 8.5" rim with out sacrificing on handling? I read this is the max size tyre that fits 8.5"
I am planing on getting FONDMETAL 9RR rims (9.6kg) super light weight so I can have them everyday and don't have to swap for track... Will run with PSS 255/35/19.
Who has fitted 255s to 8.5" rim? Please chime in :)
