Water Leak

Post by kevconn » Fri Jun 24, 2016 7:17 am

Hi, after a bit of advice please, discovered this morning a damp patch on the drive on the left hand side of the car just in front of the wheel (RS4 B7). On closer examination, if you look through the vent sections of the front bumper directly in front of the wheel you can see a pipe with what appears to be a metal fitting on the end and it seems to be leaking from there.

What is that pipe going to and is it an easy fix?

Thanks in advance.....

Probably the auxiliary radiator leaking, common issue on the RS4. Some people delete and run a cold air feed in that location instead.

Thanks, called Unit 20 this morning and they confirmed it is indeed the auxiliary radiator leeking, booked in for a week tomorrow.

Just swap the right rad to the left and get a CAF in there

I read somewhere this morning that the CAF can cause overheating problems? Not clued up enough on these cars to fully understand the ins and outs of what might be right or wrong.
In any case the right one might just be as bad as the one that's leaking, won't know until the bumper comes off I suppose.

I would say a fairly high percentage of guys running B7's on this forum have fitted the CAF at the sacrifice of an aux rad to no detrimental effect, including myself now for over 18 months!!.

You are possibly right in the assumption that the opposing rad may also be corroded too, although the corrosion tends to be caused by foreign objects such as leaves, debris etc getting stuck in them, so one may have seen more crap than the other!!

Like you said though, have a look when the bumper is off and see what's what.

Thanks again. Would anybody have any pics or information of this being done please?

Check out the FAQ thread at the top of the page mate. Has a full set of Instructions. Nice easy job and works out a lot cheaper than replacing an aux rad
