JC WeldFab Exhaust - Vid

Post by FaisalJ » Sun Jun 05, 2016 5:09 pm

First off, apologies for the double post and repeating myself, but I think the exhaust deserves its own thread, rather than just being buried in mine.

A little background on the system:

- The system does away with pre-cats, and there are options for 100 cell or 200 cell main cats. I went with 200 cell, as per OEM.
- It incorporates an X crossover just behind the cats
- It's 2.5" throughout, mandrel bent
- The valves are bentley ones, and should be more reliable than the OEM ones, which we all know are prone to getting stuck.
- In terms of cost - the full system is £2.2K + VAT. A catback is £1.8K + VAT. Factor in upto £150 extra if manifold studs snap.
- JC Weldfab will need your car for a few days (in my case a week as it spanned a bank holiday weekend)

To say I'm pleased with it is an understatement. I'm looking for excuses to drive the car just so I can get those exhaust valves open and hear that noise!

There are plenty of good sounding exhausts for the RS4 out there, but the thing I love about this is the jekyll and hyde difference between exhaust valves closed and open.

With valves closed, it's a little louder than my old setup (pre-cat delete, x-centre section, and valves stuck open), but still fine with wife and kids. It's about as loud as I can get away with for the family, and there is a little drone at 2K revs - but it's acceptable.

With valves open though - just wow!!! It certainly gets heads turning. The valves open >4K revs in gears 1 to 3, and throughout the rev range in gears 4 upwards.

I've tried to capture the difference between valves open/closed in this vid, under a variety of scenarios and from different angles - but a video only captures so much. My equipment isn't great either! However, I hope it gives you the idea.

Enjoy!

Savage mate!!!.

Living the video too, very creative and lots of good comparitive tests.

It's so difficult to get across the noise these exhausts make. I just remember the first time I heard Nick's Daytona avant and the fact it actually made my ears ring

Thanks Guys! :beerchug:

It's 304 stainless steel for the exhaust, more corrosion resistant than the cheaper 409 stuff used by some.

The system should pass an MOT fine.

My previous system also did away with pre-cats, and just had 200 cell main cats. Best to just make sure they're up to temperature before the emissions test, so they're working efficiently.
