Odd starter issue
Re: Odd starter issue
Was in for a service yesterday, Audi say two relays are dodgy. €170 to replace them.
Seem reasonable?

Re: Odd starter issue
Id say go for it.
Theyre a pig to get to and if Audi will stick to that price, get them to do it.

Re: Odd starter issue
Cool hopefully that's it and no new starter needed.
Re: Odd starter issue
My money is still on the starter.
Re: Odd starter issue
Really?
Hopefully the relays will sort it, just have to wait and see I guess.

Re: Odd starter issue
I thought so, then I read a thread on here earlier (Faisal maybe?) who said the relays seemed to have fixed his issue so maybe you have the same fault.irishmike wrote:Really?

Re: Odd starter issue
Hopefully so!
Re: Odd starter issue
So yeah, relays did no use [DISAPPOINTED FACE]
Got them replaced 2 weeks ago, same issue yesterday and today..
Scan shows the same errors...ffs...Mike your prediction looks likely now...

Re: Odd starter issue
Sorry pal, I hoped I was wrong.
Had mine down now, starts so much better!
The starter relay error was the same as the one that I used to get. I didn't get the other errors you have there though both mention the engine control module so possibly related to each other).

Re: Odd starter issue
Agree with Mike since my starter was replace it starts a whole lot better and no issues since
Re: Odd starter issue
Booked in for Tuesday anyway, see what they say.
It's very seldom that it happens, but I guess that it may just get worse if I don't get it sorted.. hopefully they won't take the 7 hours that they quoted originally...

Re: Odd starter issue
Guys, can anyone confirm the part number?
I think it's 079911023D, but wanted to confirm before I go shopping.

Re: Odd starter issue
Got the dreaded call anyway, new starter required, they will cover the part, but I'll be charged the labour, 8 hours... €900
Re: Odd starter issue
Can you challenge that? It is not an easy job but 8 hours is a bit severe!. If you drop the ARB & engine mount then it makes access to the starter motor much easier.
Re: Odd starter issue
I did challenge it all right, It's quite excessive.
They said they tech has done one before and that was the time taken.
I've no access to Autodata or the like to see the recommended time so am a bit limited in what I can say to them about it.
They did say if took less time they would adjust accordingly all right.
However if I take it somewhere else while they may take half the time, I'll have to pay for the part then, so may not end up much better off
