Rs4 B7 Cabriolet Clutch Problem

Post by Sam17 » Thu May 12, 2016 2:12 am

Hi all,

had the car out this weekend and found when changing gear the clutch pedal was not coming back up to it original position. The pedal seemed to stay down for a bit then release back. Only happened when giving the car a clear out through the Rev range.

can anyone Help and shine some light on this issue.

Cheers Stew

Have a quick search for "clutch problem" or "sticking clutch" Sam.

There is a whole plethora of info on this exact issue.

From what I have read though, the consensus is its a pipe that causes the issue and one of the forums resident mechanics has supplied a modified replacement to rectify the issue to a few people. Have a feeling though it is still a gearbox out job to do though but have a search as suggested and all the info you require will be there.

There's a TPI from Audi on this. Not an expensive part but certainly an expensive job. The issue is caused when the slave cylinder and pipe expand under higher running temps. If it was me I'd get the clutch replaced at the same time for £995 "fixed price" as the job involves the same labour charge for replacing the weaker components. Even my staff discount on clutch parts alone is only £60 cheaper than full replacement! I reckon £1100 ish all in should solve it. If you have FASH it might be worth calling customer services and seeing if any good will would be available.
