DRC Specialist Essex?

Post by crashley » Sun Apr 10, 2016 3:55 pm

Anyone have any experience of anyone in Essex (Colchester) dealing with DRC woes?

Cheers
Ash

The nearest i would know of would be Camspec in Crawley.
They really know their stuff and have the kit for repairing and repressurising the system as per OEM spec.

+1 for Camspec in Crawley, im up in Epping and had to get the car taken down on a low loader, but worth it as they actually know what they are doing and have all the re gassing gear.

You can rest assured that camspec will be cheaper and more honest than your average Audi stearlership....
Any DRC work is potentially costly.... but youre better in the hands of a specialised indy for sure

So, thanks for replies but due to commitments i simply haven't had the time to get the car down to Camspec from Colchester so i've ended up booking into Chelmsford Audi who so far have been really good - the service guy has been very good indeed and seems pretty knowledgeable thus far. As expected, NSF shock failed and unsurprisingly OSR on it's way out so i'm having both replaced and getting brake fluid changed whilst it's there.

So, the question is, is it worth retaining the old shocks- can they actually be repaired? If so, i'll keep.

Thanks again.

Crashley, if you don't mind me asking, how much did Chelmsford charge you for the fronts to be replaced?
I took mine to Colchester Audi (viewtopic.php?f=35&t=119579) and they want £1007 for the job. Due to other reasons I don't really fancy leaving my car in their hands again, so if the guys at Chelmsford have been good for you, I might go and see them (im in Marks Tey)

Audi Colchester are useless, and they even told me they didn't have the tools to do the suspension. They failed to notice a failing wheel bearing, despite me asking specifically about an odd noise and asking them to check it on two occasions. That wheel bearing then failed on the M25 a few weeks later. Their sales chaps are equally <beep>, thinking it ok to send me 5miles up and down the A12 in a £45K SQ5 as sufficient for a test drive. If Mrs Crash gets one, it will either come from Chelmsford or Stansted out of principal!

Anyway, Chelmsford Audi (who have the specialist tool to balance the system) have quoted me £574 NSF, £429 OSR + some pipe @ £150. So around £1153 all in for those two shocks. Dealt with a chap called Josh who seems ok, albeit the rogue pipe replacement nearly resulted in all toys going out the pram (as they told me this morning they might need the car another week) - anyway, they found one, and i'm collecting tomorrow. Happy days.

Brilliant thanks Crashley, that really does confirm my feelings for Colchester Audi. - they told me they would borrow the kit from Ipswich to do the suspension lol.

I'll give the Chelmsford guys a go. Thanks :)

Southend Audi sorted my DRC without any issues, I always find them to offer a good service when I've used them.
