RS advice

Hi everyone,

I've had the B7 for coming up a year now and it passed its mot today :beerchug: so I'm now looking at some bits that have been picked up from its service a few months back and looking for advice....

1. DRC leaking slightly, not picked up on the mot but I was told that coilovers would be a good shout, am I just panicking, should I run it on the DRC and worry when I get some knocking?
2. Front disks worn, again not picked up on the MOT, should I be concerned?
3. Tyres need replacing, what's the suggestion on here as I want decent tyres but not ridiculous as I will replace all four together

I don't know much about cars and I don't pretend to but I love the car and do tend to needlessly throw money at something if I take a garages advice hence why I'm asking here as you guys don't do getting ripped off...

I'm up in Morecambe so the only places I know of are Unit20 (A bit of a trek) or ADS in Preston so if anyone can advise on other good garages up here I'd really appreciate it.

Also any other good changes either cosmetic or otherwise you can advise on are gratefully received :greyrs4:

Thanks in advance, have a great weekend :beerchug:

I would say that you would want to get the DRC sorted sooner rather than later if you plan on rataining the DRC system, prolonging it until complete failure could end up costing more as you may have to replace a valve as well. If you are set on coilovers like myself then i am happy to run until complete failure, bearing in mind that my RS is a weekend car so can afford to take it off the road if it fails to a point of not being able to use it!!.

Brake discs, how worn are they, worth measuring their thickness. Think the fronts (according to Audi) should be replaced at 32mm but many run them for quite a while after this as they still have stacks of meat on them.

Tyres!!!. Michelin pilot super sports are the dogs danglies but many others rate Goodyear Assy F1's highly too.

Cheers Ritchie, I'll take a look at tyres and get someone to look at the DRC. :biggrin3:

+1

PSS all the way.

The set I have on my RS4 need replacing shortly and they'll be replaced with another set - I've had PZero Rosso (sh1t), F1 (good), PS2 (better), Sessanta (budget but OK) and PSS (best).
