Stone chip resurrection

Last year after two trips to the ring, one trip to Berlin and post ring trip No1 and the family summer holiday to the South of France my immaculate RS4 looked like it was machine gunned at the front end. I have decided to restore it to an immaculate state once again. So the following work has started at the body shop:

Respray:
  • Full bonnet
    Windscreen pillars
    Front bumper
    Wing mirrors
    Grill surround
Bottom of the front wheel arches
Lower area of the rear bumper ie. rear wheel arches
Radiator and oil cooler sprayed stone chip black
    Additionally all inner door sills
Any other stone chips touched in, flattened off and polished
New bits:
  • Windscreen (as current has 2 bullet holes and stone chips)
    Windscreen side rubbers
    Headlamp glass (VX Tuning)
Xenon lamps and side lights (care of Trups; top chap)
    Number plate surround
Drivers door RS4 Kick plate (bloody rip off)
I'm also having Covertech apply 3Ms stone chip film to the:
  • Front bumper
    Wings and bonnet; bikini application
    Head lamps
    Drivers door sill
    Rear lower bumper

Bloody hell, did you get all those stone chips in 2 years? Mine looks like that at the moment.

How long until it's ready?

Will you be going with paint protection film when the paint work has been completed?

I would cover the full front in film, not just the front part of the bonnet as you'll be kicking yourself if you get a stone chip further up near the scuttle. Also worth doing the a-pillars for what it costs extra.

Think HARD about not getting a full bonnet. You'll have a visible line across it otherwise that would bug me.

I have ventureshield on the whole front and it's simply awesome. Not a single mark - although I have several chips on the windscreen. Testimony to the film.

DK's F Type has a partial bonnet cover and it's actually really hard to spot. I think the colour of the car will make some more obvious than others. I'd probably have the whole bonnet, bumper and nth front wings done but I'm sure that also quite costly!

I think the full bonnet added about £250 to the cost for mine IIRC. It was £980 all in I think, for a full front (wings only done until they curve back in). I'll get some photos two secs.
