My wife was comming home from work on the A512 LOUGHBOROUGH just before the M1 junction 23.
She said she thinks she was just over the speed limit due to a van tailgating her car.
I have found a link on the internet ( this person has a radar detector and thinks its a speed camera ) but i think its activating from a beem...
Can i have your thoughts on what camera this is, to me does not look like a speed camera but a traffic management.
THE CAMERA IS FROM 35 SECONDS ON THIS VIDEO.

Many thanks

I think his radar detector is detecting the motion sensor (also radar) on an automatic door on the building called "The Cube".

Just remembering how when I used to have a radar detector it would trigger almost every time I went past a shop or building with automatic doors

We have tons of those single cameras in Devon and i think theyre surveying for hotspots, to install revenue reaping permanent speed cameras.
The only way to find out is to wait for notification..... but personally i dont think theres anything to worry about.

I know exactly where that section of road is as I deliver to a takeaway just down the road. I go down that road every Sunday and I haven't had a speeding ticket come through in the 2 years I've travelled down it. I didn't even notice that camera and correct me if I'm wrong but aren't they supposed to give you fair warning if a speed camera is in operation I:e as in speed Camera in operation signs just before the camera position??

Hi thanks for all the comments...
I went and visited the camera today.
There is a sign on the rear the says....
CCTV IN OPERATION IMAGES USED FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND CRIME REDUCTION.....
Operated by CHARNWOOD BOROUGH COUNCIL...
Not sure why council would use this.

Maybe ANPR cameras?
Scanning for road duty dodgers?
Its bound to be collating info on numbers over the speed limit, vehicles in and out of a town, road duty dodgers.....
You should be able to call the council highways dept and ask for info on what its there for, under freedom of info etc.....

It looks like the ones in Derby town centre that they have watching bus lanes and bus stops, buggers got me with 4 sixty quid fines before I received the first notice. Since there is a bus stop in front of the building it might be to catch people using it to drop of or collect and commit that most heanous of crimes....pulling off a busy carriageway and using an unused layby....sorry, bus stop....but what price safety when a fine can be levied. (Assuming you don't leave the car, block a bus and force pedestrians into the road before someone points that out).
