MMI Bluetooth solution

Post by Oakesy » Wed Nov 25, 2015 12:44 pm

Hi,
I've just bought Stu's (forum member) B7 Avant and I'm over the moon with it. However, whilst I can stream audio from phone to MMI over Bluetooth I cannot control the unit (next track etc). I'm wondering what solutions there are available with a view to keeping everything as oem as possible? Does a newer rnse unit offer this functionality?
Sorry if it's a noob question but all help is appreciated.
Cheers

I'm not aware of any OEM solution that allows you to control steaming audio from the phone via Bluetooth.

I've had the 2010+ RNS-E and AMI fitted for several years and have experimented with a USB to Bluetooth adapter that transfers the audio but that's about it, so I don't stream audio from my phone instead I use a 250GB hard drive connected to the AMI and place mp3 versions of all my music on there.

BTW the B7 doesn't have MMI, as you say it's an RNS-E which shares absolutely nothing with MMI. I know it says MMI on the startup screen but that's a decision by a demented idiot at Audi that has caused many people to buy MMI map discs that don't work - so they've been (very!) expensive coasters.

If you have a 2010 rns and ami with a tune2air connected, you can control a phone that is connected to it. Select albums, skip tracks etc, works really well

What do you need to fit AMI to the 2007 RNSe? Is the even possible?

No it isn't. You need to change to the 2010 RNSe if you want AMI. Many have done it, lots of threads on here.

i just have a lead connected that comes out of the small area here: i can then control spotify for example through my phone and also change tracks on the Head unit if i want - also charges the phone and i sit the phone in a holder on the vent there so is good for using Waze etc for Nav

I'm not sure what brand it is, I'll dig out the paperwork. I got Bannings in Guildford to fit it, I just told them what I was after.
