Buckets to comforts with memory

Post by ians63 » Thu Oct 22, 2015 12:12 pm

Anyone ever done this mod? Any info on hardware required (apart from the seats!) and VCDS tweaks when done.

no hardware required ( apart from seats  )
you may need to code the airbags with VCDS

The seats need an additional module to provide the memory function (IIRC this is bolted onto the bottom of the seats) plus the switches (and trim) to control them adding into the drivers door. plus associated wiring adding.

I have a memory module to install, a door card with switches and a loom to adapt.I assume I need to code the memory module as it's additional equipment.

AFAIK the memory module isn't connected to either the K or K2 line so there's no coding or diagnostics (on the B7 CAN diagnostics is for the powertrain only).

Anyone know or has done this if the reverse dipping passenger mirror is possible with the memory seat mod.

I am 99% sure that the mirror dipping function is steered by the module under the comfort seat. I swapped to Bucket seats and my mirror did not dip any longer and it was not possible to code it either.

It is, the dipping mirror function requires the memory seat module (to remember the mirror position).

In addition to memory module under the seat, door switches, seat loom & wiring, the drivers door window motor needs to be changed to a different version - there's control circuits and connectors in there that link with the seat memory system. I got part way to completing the update on my B7 but never got it finished - not difficult but a bit time consuming. I still have the door switch, switch carrier and window motor somewhere.

As I recall there's no VCDS coding needed

Can anyone tell me the part number for the drivers door window motor needed to get memory seats working

So far on this retrofit project I have done he following:-
1. Fitted door card with all wiring and memory switch from S4
2. Fitted replacement window motor and control module
3. Replaced all motors on drivers seat
4. Replaced seat loom
5. Fitted memory module under drivers seat

All buttons on memory switch light up and operate

I have run a full scan and module 36 shows up ok with no errors. All seat positions work manually just not with memory settings.

I feel I'm very close to getting this working so any help advice greatly appreciated

As you say, illuminated button sounds positive, as it's clearly connected up

You're certain that you've got the correct window motor with the 8H prefix and all of the connection pins? (not some blanked out as on a standard car)

And I assume you've followed the instructions in the manual to set up memory?

A couple of years ago I downloaded a "How To" guide for the memory seat mod from audizine as a pdf and which I've attached.

I have been through MVBs only thing that doesn't register as working is the Stop / Off switch (group 1, block 2, byte 1 - pardon my terminology!!). I have power to the switch and Off illuminates amber as it should when pressed. I have another switch which I fitted with the same results. Does this look like a wiring issue or am I unlucky enough to have bought two duff switches

Can't help you with ideas on what's wrong, but I can help you by looking at my car for an example of what works. I'm across thge pond, and we got the comforts as standard. I've got comforts as well as VCDS, so happy to offer my car as a reference for any questions you might have.

i'll have a look at the same measuring blocks as you posted above in the Driver's Seat Memory in VCDS. Mind, it will be on the other <cough> correct side of the car. :bigwave:
