Anyone else think they will never sell

Every time I think it's time for a change or I should sell for this reason or the other, something stops me. I imagine someone coming to pick it up and hearing it drive away and I just know i would regret it. The mileage on mine is creeping up but it still drives so well, looks good, sounds good, gets lots of attention and every time i look at possible alternatives i know i will have to spend another 20k on top of the car's value to get something that would tick all those boxes.

I'm not in a financial position to upgrade. But even if I was I couldn't see Ruby go. Oddly the Mrs is even more adamant we are never selling her NO MATTER WHAT apparently lol. She's part of the family now. The step daughter and her mate are just as besotted. The friends mums boyfriend has a nearly new Porsche and he offered to take them to prom later in the year in it. They're saying they'd rather go in Ruby. Obviously I'm mental in this matter but love the car so much! :)

I just had mine mot'd and there are advisories on the DRC pipes, shocks and an aux rad. If this were any other car I would be thinking its time for a change, but no, I'm gonna get these things sorted as I simply cannot see me selling.
The Audi chap says these cars are classics now, nothing compares to the all round excellence. Powerful engine, strong gearbox and fun to drive and space for golf clubs and shopping.
Mines has only done 52k mind you.
Everyone seems to go to the GTR after the rs4 but it doesn't attract me, an RS5? Hmmm maybe but it's just not "better" enough. If at all.

Snap, I have the same thoughts each time. There's nothing I can honestly say is worth spending an extra 20k on. Especially when Man maths comes into play: option 1, sell car add 20k to fund and find a car that's 20k better than an rs4 spending 40k in total. Car has to have >450bhp be four wheel drive and tick as many boxes as the rs4 does etc. how would the new car depreciate compared to the rs4, not favourably I would assume.
Option 2: buy tts charger for current rs4 circa 15k meaning total spend of around 35/40k on car. Assuming car was purchased for around 25k initially. for 35-40k outlay you have a four wheel drive 620bhp(ish),600nm four wheel drive family car that still turns heads and can keep up with 90% of what's out there. No brainer of you ask me

If the B8 RS4 was a manual, I could see myself changing in a couple of years...but since it isn't, I really don't know what else I'd buy.

I'm forever on the classifieds looking at different things. From a cossie powered Caterham to a GTR to a C7 RS6 to a MK2 Escort... nothing has made me do it yet.

Of course there are better cars out there, but nothing that offers what the B7 does for the money it is, imo. B8 is sweet but i'd like a manual and to be honest, i think the B7 looks much better.

Also just had a big bill so i feel i should stick with it a bit longer, get some value out of it!

I always bought mine with the intention to keep it as a second classic/fun car for the couple times a year that I'm back home in Belgium. Daily drive it for a year or so to connect with it, and then keep it as a future classic. In a couple of years a manually shifted 4.2 V8 that revs to 8 grand will be a great reminder of how good things used to be.

Also gives me time to save up for a P-car so it all works out in my head at least.

I've owned my RS4 from new in July 2006 and haven't seen anything to tempt me to sell it - they either have things I hate (like electric handbrakes), don't have a V8 (or V10 or V12) or the cost to change is ridiculous.

I've always thought this would be a "forever car" for me, and in over 9 years nothing has come along to make me change my mind.

I often wonder about this. I love the RS, but feel a certain burden of responsibility to it. There's a lot of mediocre ones out there and I try to keep mine immaculate. I worry about where I park it, stone chips, other drivers doors and all that. Would I be better with something half the value that I'm less sensitive about (given how often I really get to cane it...)

Not yet, obviously...

I would like to think I will always keep mine, hence the TTS as per (baz4)

My Negatives;
It's a money pit,
It's old
High road tax
Reliability against new

My Positives;
It's a classic, (modern)
It's a drivers car
A family car capable 195+
Cheap to insure with low excess (just insured for £300)
Road respect
Good social car, public always look, and like to chat
MRC tuned with the TTS .... What more do you want?

I am keeping it! :blackrs4: :biggrin3:

Maybe a 4x4 as a daily driver

ive had mine for 2 and a half years but wanted one for a very long time. mines rarely used but i can,t see me ever parting with it. i,ve thought about it in the past but after a quick spin all thoughts vanish. i,m more into bikes than cars so dont think theres anything else affordable that would suit me more. i,ve never drove a car that makes me smile so much!!
