I had mine re-trimmed 3 years ago, replacing part of the silver trim with leather.

I don't think the B8's airbag is compatible with the B7's.

The B8 wheel has flappy paddles, the TT-RS has a manual version ie no flappy paddles.

In 3 years I've touched the bottom of the steering wheel once. It felt weird......

I tend to cruise with one hand on the wheel - my right hand, touching just the flat part of the wheel. On the b7 it wasn't a nice feeling with the plastic etc but my b8 has the suede wheel so it's very touchy feelie lol

This would probably be the sensible solution. as others have said a TT-RS wheel isn't exaclty cheap. Plus, it won't say RS4 on it D:

nij, did you get the whole wheel recovered or just the plastic part? I would imaging covering over the existing leather would make the wheel substantially chunkier in your hand?

If you only cover the plastic part it will end up being thicker than the rest of the wheel.

FYI, if you get a TT-RS wheel you can still have an RS-4 badge in it.

I think I'll end up getting the FBSW covered entirely in alcantara for the time being and look into upgrading the wheel as part of a future interior upgrade as I am also considering some seat modifications that I can't justify the money for at the moment. :)

The badge thing is good to know. I did look back to that other guys post and noticed that he has the RS-4 badge in the TT-RS wheel there :bash: lack of attention paid on my part.

The whole wheel was re-trimmed and is a little thicker, but you could ask the trimmer to remover the original leather first if you wanted the same look and feel. The bottom part wasn’t simply just covered over, I wanted a more OE look and feel, so I modified the plastic trim beforehand.

Here is a photo of the wheel with the modified plastic trim.

The notches filled in with pencil rubber/eraser.

I then trimmed the bottom part with a layer of leather to match the thickness of the wheel before I sent it to the trimmer.

That's far more impressive than it looks at a glance. I have seen people just cover over the plastic at the bottom but it doesn't look very good. Kudos to you!

nij, the whole retrim looks stunning. I normally like originality, but what you have had done brightens up the interior no end. If you don't mind me asking - how much did it cost and who did it? Could you pm me if you don't want to talk numbers on the forum.

Cheers,
Bryan

I honestly can't remember the cost as it was 3 years ago, but here's the original post: -

Give MJ a call, he'll be able to give you a quote. It also depends on how far you want to go with your re-trim.
