haha and everyone drives at 10mph in the winter?.....the winter tyre was always gunna embarrass the other two which is why its unrealistic...try the test at say 20?30mph and the winter tyre would slide...maybe not as much as other two but would still slide,so 10mph is a good speed so not to embarrass its self...which takes me back to my original post..if you know what your cars limits are and you a confident driver who understands his?her surroundings then no need for winter tyres, just a safe driver needed with a extra £500 in his back pocket...

Sorry, but this is just wrong. Accidents happen when people make mistakes. When accidents happen, one of the things that minimises their effects is reducing speed quickly. Winter tyres will allow you to do that, when used within their operating conditions.

Would winter tyres be better, no doubt. Is the RS capable on summers, on snow whilst understanding the conditions and driving to any condition that comes up, absolutely. The whole 'unexpected kid running out' well if when driving no matter the conditions you MUST expect the unexpected. If you can't or don't you need to not be driving tbh.

Ive not seen a decent amount of snow in Essex for years , had no trouble with the 330d so im not to worried about using the RS4 on its new Pirelli P zeros .

As said above , that's spot on .

Your summer tires don't wear when you drive on them in winter? This "extra money" is just faulty logic. You don't really spend more on tires unless you drive so few miles that your tires die of age rather than use. Not likely on an RS4 anyway. The only "extra" cost is the changing of tires itself.

Your summer tires don't wear in winter and your winter tires don't wear in summer - you're really just spreading the miles thus using each set for longer than if you had just one.

Invariably people who go "don't need no winter tires" have never experienced the absolutely massive difference they make. By the same logic you could drive on the shittiest possible Wanli tires all year round. Performance and safety, who cares, saved some money.

Fwd's fine too but I've never tried a rwd in the snow. I'd guess getting going is the hardest part?

I've got 4 original RS4 18 inch alloys with winter tyres for sale for £550. As the posts suggest even without snow they offer safer driving in cold temperatures.

I think a bargain. Unmarked original Audi wheels and tyres cheaper than a set of tyres!

Did someone say snow tyres? :D

I have a set of immaculate OEM 19s with Pirelli Sottozeros (of the 240km/h variety) that will need a new home soon. Only done around 2-3k. If anyone's interested.
