Electrics in boot lid [saloon] dead

Post by TonyHayers » Mon Aug 24, 2015 2:47 pm

The other day I started getting dash warnings for rear fog bulb failures (both), and on further investigation it looks like all power to the boot lid has gone: rear fogs, numberplate lights and the boot lid release. The internal boot lighting does appear to be working, so looks to be limited to just the boot lid itself.

I've pulled back the rubber boot near the left boot hinge hoping to see a pinched cable or something, but there's no visible damage.

Anyone had this before? or know the location of relevant relay/fuses? Doesn't seem to be anything relevant in the main relay box :s

This is the fault I get with VCDS:

Code: Select all

Address 09: Cent. Elect. Labels: 8E0-907-279-8EC.lbl
   Part No: 8E0 907 279 N
   Component: int. Lastmodul ECE 0907
   Coding: 00021
   Shop #: WSC 06335
   VCID: 3D71DDA7377FBBF6B0B-4B00

2 Faults Found:
02736 - Bulb for Tail/Fog Light; Left
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
02737 - Bulb for Tail/Fog Light; Right
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
Could "open or short to plus", mean a ground problem?? Haylp.

Ah, ok, that's useful thanks.

I've taken all the lining out of the lid and can't see any obvious breaks, might have to take the lining out of the boot itself and follow the wires back :s

Maybe the whole loom has been pinched from the boot I'm not sure if there are plugs behind the side panel that may have become damaged or loose

Thanks for that chaps. I had exactly the same break in the brown wire further up from where I had checked previously. Fixed now and all working again.
