and

I know these cars with high mileage on isn't a issue but still 84k on the clock and still wanting nearly 18k for car is very good
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/ ... 06/4574589
and with 118k on clock would you say this is a fair price at 16k

I buy a car on condition not miles , my RS4 has just hit 109k and for nearly 9 years old its clean . its had money spent on it and been looked after .

Its done a Avg 12k per year which isn't bad at all . 100k is nothing to a modern car and anyone who avoids a 100k car is living back in the 80's .

I also test drove a RS4 before my one on 126k , and it drove like a 26k car .

First ad: "Upgraded" bose??? Standard on an RS4 surely?

My bose went straight in the bin. Silence would be an upgrade! :D

If your looking at 2 cars, one with fresh refurbed wheels, new tyres, and fresh discs and pads all round, that would be worth about £3k more compared to an otherwise identical which required those consumables , so I wouldn't be blinded so much just by mileage

But being a b7 rs4, you could also be looking at a car which has been driven gently and never had the DRC replaced, so still got the ticking time bomb, whereas a car driven harder is most likely to have had a DRC issue in the first 5 years and had Audi replace it with the upgraded v3 DRC components. You could also be looking at a car which has never been decoked, compared to one decoked in the last 5k

There are so many factors to take into account when deciding if the asking price is good

I understand what you saying but when you buy from dealer 9/10 the dealer only knows service history not the proper history that you have identified.so regardless if it had carbon clean etc etc the dealer will sell at roughly the same boot price

Hence why looking at a car in person is so important, dealers always tell you the tyres just went on and that the brakes are recent regardless of the condition they are in

I paid £13800 for my black 06 plate with black optics pack . ive now had it a year and ive had to change the pads all round , ive just had the wheels done in black courtesy of F1 auto centre for marking them when they were silver :biggrin3: and 4 new tyres . No other faults drives spot on and still punches you back in the seat when it hits 5k

A car that's sat around for 8 years will need just as much money spent on it , bushes will be cracked , tyres and brakes will need replacing along with coolant ,oil etc etc
