B7 in Silver, albeit a bread van looks good.

B7 for me. Love the B8 in many ways, but that driver 'connection' with a B7...

Each has their own strengths, and the B7 is desperately getting dated in many ways, but I think for me that raw connection I fell for initially, is what keeps me hooked...

I suspect living with a B8 would sway me with its mod cons. But I'm a saloon fanboy...

Yeah it's wrong imo, time will tell but my money's on the b7 . The b7 has everything you need, the b8 goes too far with tech and gadgets that only distract you and dull the true driving experience.

Not really, you just set it up properly in individual everything on dynamic apart from suspension set to auto, store it then off you go, if the Rds are too rough just chuck it in comfort, on track everything in dynamic

Chris Rees is wrong.
All of his key points were trivial; size, weelbase, practicality - I'm a bulkier person but I'd still take the B7 over the B8. Just like I'd have a 993 over a 996.

Power - that gap would be bridged via MRC.

Gearbox - in 5yrs time you'd let your wife get anally pumped by a German engineer if it meant you could have that B7 'box attached to a high-revving V8, or any other ICE for that matter.

Interior - there's nothing wrong with the B7 interior, I drive a C5, I haven't turned the radio/stero/satnav on for 18months. Harden the fcuk up fellas.

Looks - the B7 wins. Period.

The B8 is a middle sibling, it can't beat its older brother because its older brother was a one-off and its impending younger brother is coming out of a completely different mould. If the B8 were offered in saloon it might not have polarised it so badly and there was no reason for it to get heavier either, even if it were for a double-clutcher. It just wasn't the evolutionary step that people were expecting, which is perfectly ok, it is a middle sibling after all. But what would I know, out all the cars with 'that' powerplant, I'd have the RS5, I enjoyed it immensely as the S-Tronic and that engine make sense to my brain when bolted into a coupe GTish kind of a car.

Yep. This.

So true about the box mated to any engine and MRC bridging the gap.

That's why I said "what would I know". Besides, a high-revving S-Tronic suits a GT car, in a load-lugger it's at odds. When I think AWD wagon, it has to be boosted, end of story.
