Price, what do you reckon?

Post by hector8 » Fri Jul 31, 2015 3:00 pm

I am looking to buy the following

2006 RS4 Avant
Sprint Blue
53000 miles
Paint work good, small bubble just above driver front light on bonnet
Tyres 3mm left.
Brakes - Fronts need done in next 8k
Full dealer service, last service 53000
Just had health check and everything is fine bar rear brake hoses and front discs and pads (next 8k)

Its a local car not advertised but willing to sell so I am just wondering what you would pay for it.

Here's my thoughts

Retail value is £19k but this one is Sprint Blue so adds value to it, maybe £1k. = £20k

Others in the market are showing up at £21k ish but from dealers so immediately they come with a warranty.

So if you take £20k, less the repair work for brake lines, Front discs and pads and tyres and I would also get a complete check over done by a specialist, which could equal £2k-£2.5k yeah? You arrive at £18k ish…..

I think you're being light on the valuation. Does it have bucket seats, flat bottom steering wheel, carbon trim and is the service history all Audi?

Here's probably the closest to the one you're considering - http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... 7315671985

£19k-£20k

I got £18.2k for mid '06 / 57k miles saloon this week, which was deemed good in my favour by a few on here.
THe RS5 I bought has a couple of minor issues which the seller is sorting at his expense too!

I agree, based on what I paid for mine with 76k miles a few months ago (Sprint blue Avant, buckets, FBSW, FASH), I think it would be a bargain if you got it for £18k. I'd put it around £21k but no harm in a cheeky offer!

I would say it's worth north of 20k all day long, you can't expect to deduct the price of front discs n pads that don't need doing for 8k IMO.I have a very similar car but with milltek etc etc that I would market at £22k not that I'm selling it.Theres very few around in nice nick with those miles now and prices are very firm,If it has good spec (you haven't mentioned) and can buy it for anything under 20k I'd snap his hand off even with the minor issues

Scrub that after reading that auto trader advert,I'd market mine at least at £23k! The OP hasn't mentioned if it has buckets in good nick and fbsw? Essential spec really.

Thanks for comments and info.

I shall have a word with the seller and see what sort of arrangement we can come to.

I would also consider the fact that your overall happy with the condition of the car, don't be misled into thinking those at dealers will be as nice, you could quickly regret not buying a decent straight example when you view some tat at dealers.if you have time to hand it might be worth a nosey around at others if this one you talk about isn't formally advertised.

You haven't mentioned spec? These cars are very spec sensitive on resale,no buckets make em much less desirable.

This, and get the dealer to add 12 months warranty and ensure the DRC, Oil Cooler and Aux rads are covered, for peace of mind at least.

Hello

It's a private sale.
Was asking several questions a while back and he doesnt really know much about it. He simply drives it and when servicing lets Audi fit whats needed. I think it was bought more as a notion than a love for RS4's. So it has been maintained yes but maybe not loved!

I asked about DRC check, Decoke, discs and pads ...the usual stuff he hadnt a clue so just knew about general servicing. He had a recent service and health check done for me which indicated about the brakes.

It has Buckets, Flat bottom steering wheel no

Fronts discs (£1221.43) and pads (£432.48) need done, rear brake hoses (£257.57) and tyres asap (£600+) - (prices are audi's heatlh check prices)
So your looking at £2500 as soon as I purchase it.

The rears can't really be bargained into the price I know as they are 8k away.

Rears discs and pads are 8k away.

Thanks again for info. I gave an offer so he is thinking about it.

Sounds like it will need looking at by a specialist who knows their way round a B7 RS4 as it's possible that there may be DRC issues (such as low pressure) or vacuum issues (which cause much more power loss than carbon build-up).
