any updates on this ? your fueling looks fine, maf readings are a bit low but that could be from timing pull

Ok folks. Here're my logs for both banks for a 3rd gear pull from about 1500-2000 to redline. ambient temps were about 30-32 deg at the time of the pull, which is about the average temp on any given day in SG. Don't think i logged mass air flow though.

Please have a look and let me know if you see anything amiss. Much appreciated!!

It's difficult to understand as both banks are behaving well fuel wise. It's not running lean and as both banks are the same here the lambda sensors themselves must be fine. Would be interesting to see MAF but it's probably going to be similar to the other one - a bit lower than usual.

Are you running OEM spark plugs?

Well i've not switched to aftermarket spark plugs, so I'm guessing that my mechs have been using OE spark plugs all this while. I am running Okada coilpacks though. I should probably change them back to OE ones and switch out the plugs for a new set of OEs just to check if it makes any difference.

BTW, as per a few other threads that i dug through, was it ever concluded which was the OE rated plugs for RS4? Was it the NGK or the Bosch, and would somebody be kind enough to give me the part number for the correct OE plugs?

An update on this...

Changed spark plugs and OE coilpacks... Still pinging.

Changed crank and camshaft sensors... Still pinging.

But FINALLY! Changed fuel injectors and... No, still pinging.

So i've given up. I just leave it in Sport mode now and the exhaust is loud enough to drown out the pinging so i pretend it's not there.

Weird that you are getting pinking in low load conditions. Are your tumbler flaps working OK? Maybe poor turbulence causing issues?

Ignition is being pulled on all cylinders pretty much equally, yet the lambdas all look OK. Have you had the lambda sensors double checked? Maybe a tuner could do this?

Is the car standard?

While I can't offer you any help above what these fine Gents have already given you, I will say don't leave it as it is or the engine won't last very long. Once ping/knock is audible it can be quite damaging. It's an incredibly high spike in cylinder pressure that wreck the pistons and shell bearings. Luckily these engines are built very very strong so you should be ok once it's sorted.

Makes no sense. Your car is performing poorly, doubt you're cracking 350 bhp with this much timing pull.

If you can't find what's wrong, take it to an expert.

It will happen with ANY engine if the torque it produces is not sufficient for the load
Even with timing, ignition and fueling optimally adjusted

You need more power/torque, a few ways to get it
Increase displacement
Increase compression ratio
Or
Increase rpm since power is proportional to engine speed (and torque)
