7500rpm Cut Out
7500rpm Cut Out
Hey Guys
So as i was trying to keep up with my cousins MP4-12C this weekend i noticed that in some gears once i hit the 7500rpm mark the car cuts out quick and then sometimes it doesn't.
Anyone else get this at all ?
At the same time, i'm starting to wonder if there is anything else going on with the car, it just doesn't seem to pull from over 60+ in the gears. Think i'll maybe need to get it out to MRC for a health check and see what the heck is going on. Thats the first time i've given it the beans and to be honest i really wasn't so confident especially when the brakes started squealing after 15-20 mins thrash - new pads all around too!

Re: 7500rpm Cut Out
cuts out ? as in engine dies? or revvs drop?
when you say it dooesnt pull after 60 is that after a thrash or like oil at 70 - 80 degrees
what fuel do you use? could be knock retarding the timing or the common vac leak

Re: 7500rpm Cut Out
First things first, your RS4 v's MP4-12C isn't ever going to work
Are you sure you're not running a fault? Obviously no EPC light - I had a dirty MAF and it limited RPM to 7,500, no kick at 5,250, it just went in to safe mode.
Best thing would be it find someone with Vag Com first just to check its not something silly and easily fixable.

Its like the revs drop off , but you get this loud sound of air being blown out from under the bonnet.
I never give it the beans until its been properly heated up, so its usually sitting around 90-100 before i put my foot down.
Using 98 fuel, but i have on occasion put 95 in when i've stopped somewhere that didn't have 98. I'm starting to think it could be this vac leak problem, but i wouldn't know the first place to start with that...

Re: 7500rpm Cut Out
Haha, yes it definitely isn't a car that the RS4 can compete with , but nevertheless it was fun. Although i was loving the drive i couldn't help but miss my 981 Cayman S which was just superb for keeping up with these supercars on twisty roads.jaysrs4 wrote:First things first, your RS4 v's MP4-12C isn't ever going to work

Re: 7500rpm Cut Out
Sooooooooooo....... it turns out that i'm an absolute idiot (something i semi knew, but not to this level)!
I'm sure everyone will have a laugh when i tell you that the problem with my car has been the fact that when i installed the carbon intake i kinda sorta put the MAF in upside down so it wasn't reading anything at all.... Put it back in the right way and she's running fine now
(please be sensitive with the comments )

Re: 7500rpm Cut Out
Yeah total relief. In saying that though, we did some data logging and it seems as though the MAF isn't working as well as it should be, so thinking about buying a new one.
Anyone know where you can get these for a good price ?
Cheers
Michael

Re: 7500rpm Cut Out
I think I paid about 110 from TPS but it was a while ago so I could be wrong.
