RS4 'replica'... Hahaharrgh!!
Re: RS4 'replica'... Hahaharrgh!!
it reminds me of the kids when i was younger driving a golf match with GTI badges on!!!!
Re: RS4 'replica'... Hahaharrgh!!
Theres a guy local to me thats done similar. All kitted up with the wheels skirts and badges front and back. He obviously doesnt know his audis too well though as its a b6 saloon! If he knew his stuff he would know that they never made an rs on the b6. At least get the right platform and body style to start lol. I,m waiting for the time when we eventually cross paths when i,m in mine as most of the time i,m in the daily driver.

There's a white B7 RS4 saloon near me. I was behind it a few weeks ago and something just did seem right. I used the 'my car check' app and put in the reg and it came back as a 1.9 tdi se.
What's the point? I just don't understand it?

I think rocket1 means they never put a B6 RS4 on sale.docurley wrote:The did for testing before the B7 was maderocket1 wrote:Theres a guy local to me thats done similar. Prototypes where the manufacturer didn't pay tax (Purchase Tax, Car Tax, VAT, WHY...) have to be destroyed while being watched by a independent witness - I've seen several prototypes destroyed with a JCB while working at a car manufacturer, it's enough to make you cry.

Re: RS4 'replica'... Hahaharrgh!!
I have thought about misbadging my car too, just for fun.
I have a B7 RS4 and have thought about rebadging it as a TDi S Line, just for the hell of it.
Not done it yet though...

Re: RS4 'replica'... Hahaharrgh!!
Docurley - That mule car reminds me of those 997 facelift kits for the 996. They look spot on in your rear view mirror, but when they pass by and you see the rear end of a 2000 plate 996 you think 'hang on a minute...'!
To clarify on Harris' initial comment, I think he just got the wrong end of the stick - the point of my thread has nothing to do with us owning 'the better car', it's about the fact that people can't just expect to bolt a set of replica wheels onto a bog standard A4, slap RS4 badges everywhere and not expect anyone who knows cars to think 'hey nice RS4'. It's universal, and I expect the ferrari boys equally raise an eyebrow when they spot the old faithful 're-worked' MR2.
I just don't see how any rightful RS4 owner can muster the same level of enthusiasm he/she gets when they see another RS4 in their mirrors or pulling up alongside them at a set of lights, compared to when they encounter a poorly modded A4 with ill-fitting wheels, halfords stick-on exhaust trims, all badged up as an RS4.
Don't get me wrong, I love and appreciate modded cars - the roads would be boring if it were just a sea of dirty grey fleet cars. But I appreciate those that are done well, those who have spent time and money to really create something that stands out (for the right reasons).
As PetrolDave said, do what you want to your motor, but don't slap a fake badge on it.

Re: RS4 'replica'... Hahaharrgh!!
Is it just me or can anyone else see the B7 rear lights on the tailgate of that 'B6' mule? Looks like they are just taped over. And if you look at the headlights they look taped over aswell. I think its a proper B7 just disguised as a B6.
And actually, on the front bumper the number plate plinth is blued out but its a proper B7 bumper. Sorry for the off topic but i noticed it and had to share!!

Good eyes man! Although I think if I'm not mistaken it has a B6 boot fitted? It's missing that B7 little lip thing...R55ENS wrote:Is it just me or can anyone else see the B7 rear lights on the tailgate of that 'B6' mule? Looks like they are just taped over. EDIT: although if it was a B6 boot it wouldn't have the b7 light inserts would it....? I'll shut up.

I'm just back from a weekend in Donegal and NI and I've never seen so many RS4s on the road! As I'm sure the owners would say: all the looks and none of the cost Fair play to them.

Speaking of disingenuous badging.
Docurley - I've always read your signature and often wondered how one could have an 06 'Exclusive Edition' considering the RS4 Black and White editions only came to market in late 07. I just presumed your car may have been optioned with an exclusive interior, but having now perused your photobucket account; I've not seen any of your RS4 images to confirm to me that there is anything exclusive with your interior. Yes, there is 'Exclusive' badges fitted to the door cards but these can often be found advertised for sale if you want to fit them.
Care to educate me?

Re: RS4 'replica'... Hahaharrgh!!
Badges, if any, should always be truthful.
Re: RS4 'replica'... Hahaharrgh!!
There's a B6 1.8 T quattro round the corner from me wearing hideous aftermarket alloys, chrome mirrors and an S4 badge. Longed to pull up beside it at the lights with my non res Milltek!
Now this is cool - reverse badging....

Re: RS4 'replica'... Hahaharrgh!!
The car came that way when I got her but before the front seats, steering wheel and gear knob were stolen and me changing the black trim for carbon she had Alcantara steering wheel, gear knob and I still have the original hand brake lever which is trimmed out in Alcantara now replaced with carbon. I can confirm the door cards are the ones that were in the car when part of the trim was stolen as there are marks on top of the door card.Surrey Sam wrote:Speaking of disingenuous badging.

Now if you know the sticker code I would be more than happy to have a look in the boot to see if it I have the code or it could be the owner went back to Audi and custom ordered it later as the original owner lived in Chelsea London so may had more money then sense.
In regards to the front end on the test car all the front end of the B7 will bolt straight on to a B6, but at the end of the day it was a hybrid, part B6 part B7 who knows what was going on under that body.
