Any ideas?

Car is running absolutely perfectly, for information it has the following modifications :

- milltek non res & sports cats ( It definitely has the non-res, the sports cats i was told by the dealer i bought from but never had it checked)
- gruppe m intake
- The history was hard to track down as the dealer didn't have it but it was owned by a forum member and has been to mrc quite a bit, i phoned them and they confirmed it has had a decoke, a remap and a full health check, i am assuming stage 2 due to the sports cats and gruppe m.
- was in with audi a month ago for new discs all round and 2 new front drc shocks and everything was given the ok by them and commented on how good a rs4 it was.

Any help much appreciated before i proceed to audi to have my pantaloons lowered.

Cheers

Niall

I'm eager to hear more on this also, had the same codes pop up on mine last week. Similar mods too

As always when a fault code is shown as intermittent, clear it (them in this case on both engine ECUs) and see if it/they come back.

BTW the tilt sensor alarm suggests something like you left the alarm on while on a ferry?

Yea could be when I brought it back from the mainland to Northern Ireland Dave. Have reset it yesterday will keep a eye on it. Could it be a dodgy maf either?

I'd say lambda. I had an issue with my maf recently - however a good clean made it all ok again.

I can't remember the code but it wasn't like yours.

Only thing against the O2 sensor is that it has registered rich on both banks. Each bank has its own set of O2 sensors so I'd assume that for both banks to register rich then both O2s would have to be duff.
More likely that the maf is at fault and causing both banks to run rich and thus both O2s are picking this up and turning on an EML. Could also be a vac issue.
I have the opposite. I get a lean at idle code on bank 2, and despite my best efforts I've been unable to figure it out.

The fact it's both banks made me think it's u likely to be a O2 sensor as chances of
Both failing are slim. More than likely a dodgy maf.

1. How much for a maf?

2. How hard to fit?

3. Anyone know what sort of K&N filter the Gruppe m takes I want to replace it?

Cheers for all the input guys

The maf couldn't be easier to change. Have you tried cleaning it yet with some electrical cleaner?

Not yet jay, is it tricky to do. The maf is between the Gruppe m and the engine and has a cable plugged into it?

That's the one. Unclipped connector. Undo 2 screws. Pull out.

Get some maf cleaner from halfords and spray it liberally, let it dry out and then re fit. Have you cleared the codes to see if they come back yet ? More often than not these sort of codes are random and won't come back.

Mafs are about 120 quid iirc. You can get them from TPS or you local audi dealer. If you get stuck let me know as I have a spare 2nd hand one from mine. I had a similar code and ordered a replacement and then found the cause to be something else so I know my spare is fine. I can sort you a cheap price on it if need be, but I'd clear codes first. If they come back, try cleaning the maf, and failing that replace it.

Cheers for the reply buddy.

Have reset the light and will see what happens.

If it comes on again I'll clean the maf and then replace.

So this morning the eml came back on, flashing this time, car really juddery as if it was running out of fuel and smokier than usual, I know these beasties like to burn oil when cold.

Full tank of super start of week and half way through it now so can't be the fuel.

I'm going to do the following anyone have any other ideas?

1. Clean Gruppe m
2. New fuel filter
3. New maf

Any other ideas? Haven't had a chance to scan it yet.

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but what was the solution? MAF or lambda?

Cheers
