False low oil level light

Post by boombastik » Tue Apr 14, 2015 6:16 am

On my way over to Nurburgring I had the low level warning come on 3 times within a few miles on the 3rd time it had been just 30 miles since I topped it up and upon checking it was perfectly ok. The light has stayed out since and after doing 4 laps of the ring
Has anyone else had this before.

I had a false low oil level light a couple of years ago while driving through the Gironde on the way to the Royan ferry. Checked the oil level while waiting for the ferry (after allowing the engine to cool down for half an hour) and the oil level was on max, checked it again the next morning (while cold) and it was only just below max (as expected).

Well I've driven all the way back to aberdeen via imjuiden ferry and the oil low level light hasn't showed itself again I checked the oil yesterday morning before leaving the hotel and it was just above the max when cold.

I guess the sensor might have had an intermittent fault that day.
