My indy VAG specialist recommended I get Lemforder or OEM arms, as he said Lemforder make them for Audi anyhow... saw the price eurocarparts do these arms posted on here, I dont know if anyone else has noticed but when you put in the vehicle details it actually list two separate sets, an expensive set which is close to Audi price at £99.54 for front £93.24 for rear and the cheaper ones at 43.48 (FU rear) £59.86 (FU Front).

Does anyone know what is the difference between these?

So i put in my old B6 TDI reg for a laugh and the same cheaper lemforder arms come up but the more expensive ones don't. So im guessing here that the cheaper one are standard b6/b7 arms and the more expensive ones are RS4 spec arms. I am going to see if i can ask Lemforder, i doubt eurocarparts would have an idea, but they will probably give a canned stronger or better response, which might not actually be far from the truth. I'm speculating that the bushs are slightly different spec on the RS4 to standard b7 and due to limited production less arms are sold they command the higher price. Thoughts anyone ?

So spoke to my local Euro Car parts about this dilemma. When they looked up the system, one system specifies both arms but the "other" system which they seemed to regard as "the bible" only specified the expensive arms. She categorically stated it only lists the expensive ones for our cars, probably as its a direct Lemforder reference. So pretty much whats happening is all those who are buying the cheap arms from Eurocarparts are getting the wrong ones. I complained that the web site is then misleading but she refused to comment saying they had nothing to do with it, suggested I contact customer services and make the complaint to them. I've heard that before, the web site operates like a self contained branch all to itself.

The adjustable arms got both A4s and RS4s so they are probably the same physical size and shape which would suggest the difference may be the bushes as you suggested.

If you are forking out for new top arms anyway they are about the same price as OEM ones without discount. Fitting will cost you the same. If I'd had known i needed some at the time,it would have cost me barely any difference to the OEM one I had fitted. Now it's gonna cost me £500+
Hello Mike I've been keeping an eye on this topic from the start as I'm soon to have kW adjustable spring fitted and am a bit confused as to the need to have adjustable top arms fitted the garage has told me there not needed if you lower within reason and don't go mad and do a wheel alignment when done but some of you have said this makes no difference and will still get wear on the inerside of front tyres so if I'm having work done on springs shall I get them done at the same time so don't have to pay for labor twice and how much i should lower by on front & back and I've got 10m spacers all round?

Just ordered set of Meyle HD top arms from AllGermanParts, price hard to beat and if they do as good a job as OEM. Top service from Mat. Folks Just be careful with those "cheaper" lemforder arms from Eurocarparts. They might no last as long as you hope.

so the car has been up on the ramp today and there are no visible signs of anything wrong and the car just wont replicate the noise whilst there, so i will just see how it goes

I also have this issue, when coming off a speed bump too quick or on full lock pulling onto the drive up a lowered kerb. as you say feels like someone has tapped the bottom of the car with a hammer.

I have had the car on an MOT ramp and used the shaker plates to try and replicate the fault nothing everything looks and feels good. I changed the (back) Front bottom suspension arms as the bushes had seen better days but the knock is still there. my feeling is it must be some Knackered bush or ball Joint.

Ive not picked them up yet mate , the bush don't worry me as ive got the power flex bush to fit so the standard ones will be cut out . the knocking people mention ,id say its front lower arm and rear arm bushes as these are under a lot of stress . Engine weight etc .im also going to power flex these . fit and forget with lifetime warranty

The top arms will only need changing if the steering wonders and don't feel tight .
