First RS4 :)

Hey folks

Just thought i would drop in and say hello. I'm in process of purchasing a beautiful Yellow RS4 with 35k miles on the clock in the next couple of weeks , so looking forward to having my first RS4. Was back and forth with two models , a lovely blue one and a yellow one. Was looking for something a bit different , so thought the yellow would do the trick :biggrin3: !

I actually was in the middle of ordering a new RS6, but had a change of heart and thought i would go back to getting one of the cars i had always dreamed of having. I did consider going with a new RS4, but was really after a manual. After a sting of BMW M3's , Porsches, and Various Audi's i'm looking forward to seeing how this car car handle all year round weather :)

Just wondering if there is anything in particular that i need to be looking out for with a used RS4 or when buying a used RS4 or if there is anything that i should get done straight away after picking it up ?

Cheers

Rule one; FON!

Are you buying the Imola yellow one from Parkway cars?

Lots of info on here - but in a nutshell, look out for -

Brakes (expect to pay approx £2k from an Audi dealer for replacements all round)
DRC suspension (not sure how much these are as I have coilovers, but I'm sure it's in the same sort of price bracket)
Aux Rads (behind the foglight surround - just unclips - cost me about £300 from a local indi to get one replaced 2 months ago)
Oil cooler pipes can corrode (no idea of costs)
Make sure the sport button works (i.e. opens the flaps and changes the exhaust note)

FON and welcome

At the top of the B7 forum is a Q & A post which hosts all the answers you need, but pretty much what has been listed above

Mate, welcome

imo that car is overpriced, it's your choice of course and I love Imola, that colour is the hardest car to sell come the time, and be prepared to take a hit.

But if it's what you are happy with then cool, check the items mentioned and enjoy

I agree, it is over priced and I'm working on that deal today. They do have a lovely blue one there too for £24k which also looks the part, but I was really after something different...

Just for the record, i've had a imola saloon which was good, do your checks properly asi had to get aux rad and oil cooler done within a month and cost approx 1500, tried to get garage to pay warranty claim but got no where, i suppose its all in the cars usage etc and has it been sat for long, bearing in mind at that milage its only done about 5k a year.

you will love it though.

I think it depends on the car & owner as well as the usage - my car does about that a year but gets used regularly (I use my bike for lots of my miles) and so far no radiators, oil cooler issues. It is well cared for and serviced and do get it that some could sit around for months but I don't think the mileage is an issue. As for the price - even if you throw the car away must be less than a C7 depreciation (I hope as waiting for them to come into my budget in a couple of years).

OP - I spoke to Parkway when I was looking for my RS4. They only had one in at the time and it'd already sold. The chap I spoke to took my details and said he'd call me back when they got another in. Sure enough he did but I'd already bought one elsewhere. They were the only place that called back when they said they would (apart from the place I eventually bought from) so in that aspect they were really good.

Well i can confirm that the listed price was in fact far from what i paid. The guy there was excellent and they even taxed it for the year. A little bit of persuasion and patience always helps :)

Looking forward to collecting her in a couple weeks time... Excited is far from the word!

Thanks OBI ! Yeah plan on keeping this one and to be honest I think I'll hold on to it forever and possibly give it to one of my boys later when they are old enough - I actually have my 4 year old son the decision on the car colour and he picked the yellow lol, I love it anyways and I think he has good taste like his dad :)

Ask them about the black optic grille, as I see it's still on their website!! Is it just a wrap?? A yellow avant has just appeared as well on AT.
