Cleaning silver (optics) trim around windows

Has anyone got a successful process for breathing a bit of life back in the the silver trim, mainly around the windows?. The car itself scrubs up beautifully but the trim currently looks patchy and washed out.
I have done a bit of searching but the results are all a bit varied with what people have tried!!!.

Cheers :-)

Looks patchy and could do with some TLC on mine.

I'm guessing it's nigh on impossible without some kind of abrasive. It's aluminium oxidisation that's occurred I would assume?

Taking mine in for a detail shortly, will see what he does with it The bottom half of the grille surround is the worst bit

I was chatting to a chap at Cadwell Park a couple of years ago who'd had the silver trim around the windows and grille on his RS4 wrapped (silver). It had been on for about 6 months as far as I can remember and still looked really good. Can't recall who'd done it for him though (must have been a fiddly job)

Wrapping the trims is not that hard. I'm a complete novice and managed a half decent attempt (in black, not silver). Plenty of guys on here that hae had their silver trims professionally wrapped in black, so it'd be no different if they did them in silver.

I've purchased this during the winter to keep mine looking tip top.

Cheers for the thoughts and advise guys

Had thought about going down the wrapping route eventually as I would like switch to the shadow chrome look all over if possible. For the time being though its a case of tarting up what I have.

Thanks, might have to go down this route as my trims are pretty :dung:

Surrey Sam - did the polish you use restore your trim, or were they good and using it just keeps them in nice condition?

Is this stuff readily available at most motor factors?

I see some good results with it on Detailing World.
