+1 more aggressive looking

I originally started looking for a saloon, and got to drive several, whereas my mrs said go for the Avant in Black they look ageless, of which I agree, there one of few cars for me that look good from all angles

Everything a saloon does the Avant does more, especially the storage, if I go away in it I fit the Thule box, and you don't have to clutter the back seat ie have things on show

When Mad Max turns up in the next film it will be in a supercharged black Avant with gun turret, 50 gallon fuel drum in the back, that should give him another 100 mile range ! :blackrs4: :biggrin3:

Sorry to bring this back up but:
Having just got one of the below car seats(aged up to 4 y/o) they are pretty big just wondered what the front leg room is like with the Recaros or the comfort pack seats?? Presuming you get a bit more with the comfort seats.
It's not too bad in my 2011 cupra R but thinking about a b7 rs4 in the new year

You really need to try the child seats in the car. The next set of seats we were getting did not fit the b7 without my knees being at my ears, so that was a no go. Went on the hunt for an RS6, didn't didn't gel with it though. Mrs laughed at the excuse to buy a new car. In the meantime the new I-size regs came out. We got two Joie's (I-Anchor and I-Gemm). We bought isofix bases for each car, plus grandparents and just click the seats into each and go. These seats fit in the B7 with buckets for me 5,11 with some more room to go, so I was happy. I really wasn't ready to give up the B7, it's a fantastic all rounder. I did sell the b7 though (saloon) but bought an avant to replace it. It's just big enough to get everything in (double buggy and all that stuff). When the youngest is a little older it will also be big enough to fit everything in for a few trips away. The C6 RS6 would have swallowed up all the kit much easier, but it's a boat and much less enjoyable for me day to day, so this was the best option. I did look at B8's too in the early days as there is slightly more rear leg room, but it's still tight with the Supersport seats (didn't try buckets).

With one baby and a dog, the B7 went to make way for a C6. LOADS more space.

Since originally starting this thread, kid no. 2 has arrived. With drivers seat in my position (5'10" with long legs) the car seat just touches the back of the driver seat. It's a maxi cosi pebble with an isofix base. It's actually pretty much the same as in the wife's mk5 golf Gti! You'd think there might be more rear room than a hatchback but no!

Glad I went for avant though, boot space has been very useful.

See if there is anyone local to you, you could try the seats in. Cheapest option is to change the child seats. There isn't a massive difference between b7 and b8 as discussed on other threads. Tbh the difference (b8 increase) may be what you need and that might Be the deciding factor. I would favour the b7 over the b8 s4 as a drivers car and sense of occasion. The B8 S4 is a very capable car, highly tuneable and more of a sleeper. I kept driving b8's and am now on my second b7. Oh that engine, driving dynamics, presence, noise ... :beerchug:

Can you borrow the same car and try the child seats in it?

Not anymore.
If they are the same as a b5 my mate has one and he's got 3 kids and manages.

I think it'll fit, but it might mean the missus is bashing her knees on the glovebox. So you have 3 options:
1. Let her bash her knees
2. Get a different seat
3. Get a shorter missus

It will be ok I'm sure.
3 sounds good though as long as I get to test drive some first

There's a bit more rear leg room in the b7 than the b5.

I've got a 3yr and 16 week old! I bought the Saloon just before the first was due. I still manage to get it all in. You have to know the boot and how to pack it! The deciding factor for me was my garage. Modern house = small garage. I put the RS in the garage every night which I could never do with the Avant.
