Rear spring ready to pop
Rear spring ready to pop
So the RS4 went in for her service today. Sat down and had a chat with the service guy who explained to me that one of the rear springs had snapped. I was quoted the usual ridiculous Audi price to replace it and he also explained that i should replace both the springs at the same time as the load bearing will be different with a new spring and an old one the opposite side? Has anyone else come across this?
Safe to say it was a gentle drive home. This is now the second spring to go on me in the last few weeks as the Mrs had one break on her A3 too.
Was also told that one of the front washer jets on the bumper does not work either. Audi quoted £360 + VAT to fix it!! Safe to say i declined. It's going in for a front end re-spray soon so will do it myself when the bumper is off.

Re: Rear spring ready to pop
How much did they quote for the rear springs?
Depending on price it might be an ideal time to fit some kw adjustable lowering springs.
Regarding the headlight washers, if you have an MOT coming up and they don't work it'll be an MOT failure.

Re: Rear spring ready to pop
I have rear H&R springs which are just sitting around so you are more than welcome to them if they are any use to you.
Re: Rear spring ready to pop
That would be a great help. How much are you looking for them? Will they be ok with stock springs upfront or do I need to change them too?kd wrote:I have rear H&R springs which are just sitting around so you are more than welcome to them if they are any use to you.
Audi quoted £78 + VAT per spring and then tabour on top. I wasn't really interested in them doing it as I'll get the work done at an Indy.MikeFish wrote:How much did they quote for the rear springs?

Re: Rear spring ready to pop
You can have them free if you pick them up or arrange collection. I am in SW London. I will look I may even have the stock rears when I changed to SS+ On stock I think the H&R may actually drop the back too much so may not look that nice. I will see what I have and PM you.

Re: Rear spring ready to pop
I'd agree, the H&R are lowering springs and the RS4 already sits high at the front so be warned; it could like like you are carrying a dead prostitue in you boot.
Re: Rear spring ready to pop
I have a full set of stock RS4 springs you can have for £70 if that's any use to you?
Re: Rear spring ready to pop
I have a set of as springs and a set of h&r springs up for grabs I would have had a set of ss+ but I have a buyer for them.

Re: Rear spring ready to pop
Quite common,my car is low mileage and one snapped a couple of years ago, they snap in the cup and it's really hard no see it unless the wheel is off.
Re: Rear spring ready to pop
I'm only after a rear set really if your willing to split them?marc1 wrote:I have a full set of stock RS4 springs you can have for £70 if that's any use to you?
i think I would prefer to stick to stock springs if I'm honest. The ride is already firm enough for me. But thanks for the offer.docurley wrote:I have a set of as springs and a set of h&r springs up for grabs I would have had a set of ss+ but I have a buyer for them.

Thank you. I'm going to have a call round today/tomorrow for prices. If you do have a rear set then I would be interested in buying them.toyneg wrote:I think I have a set of springs still from when I changed mine to kW ones. Will take a look tomorrow

Mine haven't worked since I bought mine and passed two mots no problem so they won't necessarily checkMikeFish wrote:How much did they quote for the rear springs?
