Door mirror mount corrosion.

Anyone else suffered this? Mirrors are coming off soon to be painted and the black mounting 'thing' is suffering with a bit of bubbling.

Has anyone replaced just this part or will I have to replace whole unit? Had a Google search and I'm thinking the latter.

Cheers

I replaced just the black mounts on mine last year, the hardest part is removing and refitting and attaching all the clips for the mirror wiring harness in the door

The mounts were about £30 a side which is a lot cheaprt than new mirrors, make sure you order the mirror mounting bolt kit as well as the bolts were seized in the bracket on mine

Don't suppose you know the part numbers by any chance ? And just to be sure, yours are the alloy mirrors not the folding ones ?

Mine have started to flake as well. I was thinking about getting them painted, I never thought about changing them. I have a thumb size ding on the rear quarter I am having sorted next week so was going to get it done then along with the silver trims colour coded. Dunno now.

No point in replacing them if your car is in the body Shop anyway, mine looked spot on and lasted out well
How much is a replacement??
