Re: can you imagine the bill!
Pretty crazy, over 40 hours labour - ouch!
The price of the short block assembly alone must have been thousands.
Mine had exactly the same strip and rebuild @ 16,000 miles covered under warranty by Chingford Audi due to a cylinder bore defect. Puts it into perspective after watching a video like that just how much work is involved in stripping one.

So Much work for a engine change on these cars !! I hope mine never goes bang
Re: can you imagine the bill!
Is there a chance the owner of that car is on here?
I recall reading a very similar sounding story not long ago - car through flood water, done a rod, lots of tooing and froing deciding with the insurance company if it was a viable repair?

Looks like they had two people working on it. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was a £15k+ job.

Yes didn't it have a fault with the new bottom end and they had to get another in?
Imagine doing the job to find out the new replacement is <beep> and you have to do the whole thing again, can feel that sore throat coming on

Might be DuncanF on here as I seem to remember his car was driven through flood water in the Yorkshire Dales, and the car in the clip is Darlington/Durham registeredR1RS4 wrote:coldo wrote:Is there a chance the owner of that car is on here?

Good vid though, might be useful to see various aspects of the engine out of the car when trying to work out access etc.
