My compressor had a hole in the casing!
System was leaking but until specialist had it on ramps couldn't tell where the leak was.
Bought a 2nd hand compressor for about 250 and I think it came to around 450 totAl to fit...

Still got the compressor - must have chewed some gears or something and shot them through the casing. Fortunately no other signs of impact damage where the exit hole was.

I thought the Econ light was just to indicate the Econ was on, and when the lights out its in the off mode?
If the Econ light won't go out then it means that it's stuck in Econ because of a fault.

Most common is that the aircon needs re-gassing, so that's the first thing to try.

Sounds like you've got a slow leak somewhere as it shouldn't need topping up every year ...

I have to top up every 6 months. Will need to get it sorted this year I think.

Definitely not right, shouldn't need topping up more often than every 2-3 years at the most.

Have to check that then, thought all was ok as it puts out very cold air

My car had a leak for ages until it was traced to a tiny hole in a pipe underneath a bracket.

Think the garage put a dye in with the gas and removed the front bumper to find where it was leaking from in the end.
